A Mom overwhelmed
This stage of
parenting
feels scary. I'm having a hard time letting go as they push for their independence. I feel like I haven't been able to get all the lessons in, like my approach has as annoyed them and they they've mostly experienced me as frustrated.

Need advice on how to be patient
I just started reading "
Parenting
Children with ADHD" and hope that will help give me ideas. But, what are some things that you parents who struggle with being patient do to help?

solutions that’s supposed to help you parent without yelling. I haven’t started it yet because I am consumed with excuses and roadblocks in my mind. I don’t care about my work. Everything is slipping. Forgetting to do stuff.

What's ADHD? What isn't?
I began to think about
parenting
my 8yr old (who does not have adhd) and realize she gets away with so much less and i expect so much more from her, why shouldn't i expect the same from my son? Sorry for the long winded message, just wondering how other parents walk this very careful line?

Self-Compassion and Praise!
Maybe there is something you have improved in your
parenting
bag of tools or an accomplishment you have made. Let's share and I will go first! I used to feel sorry for my 6 year old daughter and from time to time I would not be as direct or as consistent as she deserved.

Rules and consequences seem pointless!
I feel like
parenting
him is like running on a hamster wheel...we are getting no where! I have to watch him like you would a toddler because although I've told him 100x, I can't trust him not to do things like color on the walls, play in the street, etc.

I wouldn't normally put the bins out in the rain but I ran 25 mins! Wk6r3 done.
Blame a new semester and grand-
parenting
duties. I put it off for a while but then started to get hungry so thought I better get out there. I don't like to run after I've eaten. The rain always sounds worse on the window and outside it was cool but the canal was nice and quiet.

Parenting the ADHD Child: A Little Gallows Humor
Most parents when they send their kindergartner to school: Bye, sweetie. I'm going to miss you so much! Have fun and learn a lot! Me: David, for the love of all that's decent, DON'T throw chairs across the classroom, and for godsakes, please leave your underwear and pants ON. True story. As Kurt Vonnegut

He won't discuss with me what his plan is and he won't agree to any interventions like mediation or co-
parenting
counseling to talk about it. I just found out today that what he is doing is threatening our son. Our son loves football more than anything.
