Painful flare
I have had uc for 30 years, 70 years old. Because of failing kidneys I have had to reduce my mesalamine dose to half on Doctors advice and this is probably the reason for this flare. This is a very painful one No blood yet, just a very painful feeling in my whole colon. A mesalamine enema two times a

Mesalamine side effects
I recently have been diagnosed with UC and have been prescribed rowasa (mesalamine enema) and lialda (mesalamine oral). Bleeding has reduced however has anyone had issues with white coatings on their stool? Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Rectal prednisolone (UK)
I've been using rectal mesalazine for years as suppositories to help with ulcerative proctitis. I'm suffering from an extended flare, and the local IBD clinic suggested trying a short course of prednisolone suppositories to see if it helps. It turned out that they haven't been available for almost a

After the ops I did not do well on levo. Thought I was just going to have to feel exhausted and brain fogged for

The Sweet syndrome as a cutaneous manifestation of Crohn’s disease
Sweet's syndrome (SS) can be triggered by inflammatory bowel disease (IBD - Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis). When this happens, SS normally develops in response to an IBD flare, but in up to 25% of cases, it appears before the diagnosis of IBD. This is a case of a 29-year-old man with CROHN'S

Azathioprine and Mesalazine
The saga continues... I started taking azathioprine a week ago despite speaking to a pharmacist that my mesalazine was mentioned in the aza leaflet. He told me not to worry. It was fine. Today I was picking up my repeat prescriptions and saw that my more regular pharmacist was in and So I decided

Do I have UC?
Hi everyone, I'm 25 as of now and in november of last year, I had an episode of rectal bleeding. It lasted about three days and freaked me out really bad. I thought it might be cancer but when it remained stopped, I attributed it to possible hemorrhoids and moved on. Two months ago, I started noticing

Mesalazine suppositories
Hello, I have just been prescribed the above and used my first one last night. Today when wiping there was black mucus. Does this perhaps mean I did not insert it high enough? Thanks

Prednisolone shakes
Diagnosed with IBD/Crohns this summer, I am a newbie only coming to terms with this. I am on mesalazine (octasa) 6 x 800mg and slowly reducing prednisolone, currently down to 5 x 5mg per day for another week before reducing again by 5mg. Apart from necessary dietary changes to avoid foods that irritate

UC and idiopathic urticaria
Hi. I have UC. It’s under control at the moment. I take mesalazine, herbal remedies and supplements. About 5 years ago, i suffered from idiopathic urticaria and given Fexofenadine. Now the hive seem to come back in my neck and then go. I am convinced everything is linked. Anyone else suffers from that

Yet another AI disease
Hi All, I have just been diagnosed with this two days ago. My GP sent me to A&E as she thought I may have had a blood clot as the pain across my chest, shoulders etc was quite bad and my chest sounded ok. However blood tests and X-ray ruled this out. I was showing inflammation across my rib cage and
