Hi, I’m new on here. I had two ablations 16 years ago for SVT which was successful. I have now been diagnosed with AF after having frequent episodes of palpitations over the last year or so. I have been prescribed apixiban 5mg twice daily and verapamil sr as and when I have an episode which won’t stop

Genome sequencing
Interesting article that is related to our disease. The 100,000 Genomes Project involves several teams of scientists, all of whom have been working towards a remarkably ambitious goal: the sequencing of 100,000 genomes of individuals affected by rare disorders and cancers. https://www.theguardian.com

Modern diet - storing up AF for the future?
I found this to be a startling article, showing how far our modern food production is from what we AF people are advised is healthy. It made me wonder how many tens of thousands will join the ranks of AF as a result of eating such adulterated ‘food’ - not to mention the other grave health issues involved

I’m just over 3 months post ablation (26/09) and all had been going pretty well. Just in the last week i’ve been getting runs of what I presume are

Aspergillosis - severe dangerous respiratory ailment
Has anyone heard of this very dangerous infection of the lungs? It is most often found in AIDS or Leukemia patients using chemotherapy. They say it kills tens of thousands annually, is hard to diagnose, takes six to nine months to resolve. I am just learning about it, before I see my pulmonologist.

TENS machine
I am thinking about a TENS machine to help with neck and shoulder stiffness and aches. There are so many around it's confusing. I have just started physiotherapy and she said it works for some and not for others. Ideally I would like to buy one and have it on a trial basis to see if it works. Are there

Chemotherapy, a Trusty Weapon Against Cancer, Falls Out of Favor
Interesting read from the Wall Street Journal: some oncologists are no longer recommending chemotherapy as a treatment option. What are your thoughts? Does the article resonate with you in any way? Full article below and here: http://on.wsj.com/2DOOX5y "Chemotherapy, a Trusty Weapon Against Cancer,

TENS Machine
Hi ladies. Was wondering if anyone had any experience of using a TENS machine when they were in labour and whether they could shed some light on how effective they found it? Mine arrived yesterday and I'm just figuring out how it works, getting used to all the different controls and settings. Thanks!

Coming off gabapentin
I'm slowly tapering down my dose of gabapentin as I've been advised through pain management to try and cut down on my medicines while things are a bit more settled-i had a

in August and seems to have helped 😄 so in the long term if things worsen we have scope to increase.

Bisoprolol post AF
I had an ablation for a paroxsysmal AF, only two serious occurrences in 6 years. The op seemed effective, it was about 9 months ago, but the cardio said its only a success if there's no recurrence ever. Anyway,I was initially taking Apixaban, flecanaide and bisoprolol for about 4 months, then stopped

Is my afib going away?
I was diagnosed on Aug 26, 2017. Woke up at night with with afib. Since then I was put on metoprolol. The 2nd episode was 47 days later. Then 18 days later, 3rd episode came. Another 18 days later, 4th episode happened. All woke me up at night. After learning beta blocker doesn't prevent afib but just

TENS and insomnia?
New to to this site. So good to see we are not alone in this... My 8 year old has an overactive bladder and suffers from nighttime bed wetting and the occasional accident during the day. He's on Desmo and Neditol. We are also 5 weeks into a 12 week TENS programme (parasacral neuromodulation). I was wondering

Aftermath of meningitis in children
Hello, I am new to this post and am beyond concerned for my 6 year old son. He had bacterial meningitis when he was 3 months old. Please can anyone advise.....
I'm guilty of not being on the site for some time, as I have not been great really, so apologies for not being around. I'm concerned today because even though the endocrinologist I last saw wanted me on Naturthroid, today I had a medication review with some pharmacy practitioner or similar. He knew nothing

Devine intervention or just a dream?!
Hey, This is a Strange one for NYE, but last night I had the weirdest lucid dream. I was in a medical centre, the room was blue & white & looked very posh for a hospital environment. I was in a waiting room unsure what I was doing there or how I got there or who I was seeing, my name was called &

Bad joint pain that started after my viral meningitis
I am new here! I have had viral meningitis in June 2016. I remember having a huge headache that would not go away and got worse. I went to urgent care and they kept me for about 6 hours just to tell me that I have a kidney infection. My kidneys didn't hurt. I told my husband that I will be going to the
