Another little bump.
And on Friday I go to the specialist clinic to be switched over to
Mepolizumab
. Because things have become out of control so quickly they are not waiting for the benra to flush out the system they are going straight over to mepo.

Common IBS/IBD treatment blunts COVID-19 vaccine response.
People who take a commonly-prescribed drug for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) should not assume they are protected after a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, after a large-scale study found many had poor antibody responses. The research measured antibody responses after vaccination with the Pfizer/BioNTech

corticosteroid injections for treatment of severe persistent asthma
The main injections for asthma are: benralizumab (Fasenra) omalizumab (Xolair)
mepolizumab
(Nucala) reslizumab (Cinqaero) These medicines are not suitable for everyone with asthma and can only be prescribed by an asthma specialist.

Biologics (mAbs) - what are they and how do they work? 🤔
MEPOLIZUMAB
/NUCALA In England this is typically the first eos mAb you’ll be put on. Mepo works by blocking interleukin-5 (IL-5) which is responsible for the maturation and release of eosinophils in the bone marrow.

Mepolizumab and C19
My wife has EGPA and currently receives monthly injections of
Mepolizumab
at the local hospital. We are concerned that going to hospital may expose her to the virus (particularly as it is a respiratory nurse that administers it).

Self admin of Mepolizumab
Gave myself the first injection today, so simple! Much better than waiting around for the home admin team, lovely though they were. I’m nervous about storing the injections correctly and travelling with them but on the whole, great to be free to give myself the injection at my convenience.
