Malabsorption
After working with a dietitian, we both agree that my problems could be
malabsorption
so I would really like to have a SeHcat scan to see if this is the case. Has anyone privately paid for a Sehcat scan within a hospital, if so how did you go about doing this? Many Thanks

Malabsorption of drugs?
I am still awaiting a diagnosis of PA, but do suspect I do have it. My stomach pH level was recently 8.1, so very low stomach acid, which is why I am not absorbing/processing B12, iron and folate. I also did a test which showed I have very low diamine oxidase in my gut so have histamine intolerance.

B12 injections frequency
I have asked my GP if I can my B12 levels retested and was told no as it's a
malabsorption
issue. I have asked if I can have the injections more frequently than the 12 weeks and met with resistance.

B12 deficiency, Acid Reflux, heartburn
I’m also taking 40 mg omeprazole for acid reflux, which may be contributing to the
malabsorption
. However I still have daily heartburn . But I’ve only been on it for two months. Is anyone else dealing with a similar issue? Are the two related? What is causing the B12
malabsorption
?

Blood tests confirming malabsorption and malnutrition
Out of curiosity, I managed to set up my NHS portal and patient access, and checked through the last couple of years of various blood tests. Now, when I was in hospital in 2022 (all linked to mistreated hypothyroidism), many blood tests showed
malabsorption
and malnutrition.

Have recently come off ticagrelor and wanting to come off lansaprazole too ( for
malabsorption
reasons). Suggested to GP I move to coated aspirin and drop lansaprazole and she said fine. Not sure how much she thought about it.

I found this helpful.
https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/22722-
malabsorption
Absorption issues exist. The term is often used as a general explanation without a specific diagnosis being made. This led me to believe that I had to consider absorption issues when taking oral supplements.

GP visit!
Got the same old story - test within range, symptoms aren’t bad enough, try oral B12 for three months, despite my explaining that I have low stomach acid and problems with
malabsorption
, which she again dismissed. Blah, blah, blah.

Prostate cancer treatment and IBS
At the moment, I've got IBS looseness and urgency under reasonable control by taking the treatment for bile acid
malabsorption
(Questran powder) although I have not been formally diagnosed with bam: who knows, the benefit of Questran could simply be the placebo effect!

Update B12 appointment . help needed
(NHS website says 2_3months with
malabsorption
issues.) . I was told they cannot go against local NHS guidance and got to wait for 12 weeks for my B12 jab.
