Invitation to see a presentation about fictional and real-life cardiac devices :)
Hi everyone. As many of you know, I'm living the dream and doing a PhD about literary representations of chronic heart disease. I have recorded a presentation about a little bit of my recent research, looking at the fictional cardiac devices of Peter Bunzl's children's novel Cogheart, and how these relate

Always need to urinate
I am 16 months post kidney transplant. I always have the need to urinate and this is affecting my life in many ways. I cannot hold my urine there is too much pain and there is always this urge to go. Sometimes I even have to go every 30 minutes. I got tested for urine infection and it was negative

Ntpobnp blood test
Hi all. I had a bone marrow transplant 2 years ago. It put stress on my heart. Last week i had a echocardiogram which has come back good!!! Though my bnp level is 600... i am 38. So too high. My consultant is not worried though. Does this sound right?? Does a high bnp always mean heart failure? Back

Severe Sweating After My Kidney Transplant 3 Years Ago.
Oct 31 will be my 3-year kidney anniversary. I take 4mg of Envarsus (Tacro) and 5mg of Prednisone daily. I am doing exceptionally well except for the severe sweating that causes me to change clothing multiple times during the night and day. It happened for a while last year. The doctors did a number

Kidney failure following liver transplant
I'm now 7 weeks post transplant and my liver is working perfectly, but at clinic this week my kidney blood tests were elevated to moderate (stage 3) kidney failure. Is this common following a transplant and is it something that will improve or continue to be a concern or get worse? P.s. I am diabetic

Car-T and a bone marrow transplant
Is someone in their late 70's and older too old to have Car-T therapy or a bone marrow transplant?

One more to go 👍💪
I’m planning on doing my graduation run on Sunday morning. I really can’t believe I’ve got this far. Tomorrow is exactly a year since I had my kidney transplant donated by my twin sister. This time last year I couldn’t walk the length of myself and now I’ve run 5k for both of my last runs. The gradual

Dual Immunotherapy Prolongs Survival While Avoiding Chemotherapy in Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma
The randomized phase III CheckMate 743 trial breaks new ground in malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) by establishing the benefit of a chemotherapy-free regimen in patients with previously untreated disease. Data from a prespecified interim analysis, based on a minimum follow-up of 22 months, showed

UPDATE ON X RAY's & CT SCANS,
Not been on for a while but I did promise an update to X Rays and CT Scans. Last August I had a COPD revue at local village surgery and Asthma Nurse spotted something she was not sure about. True my COPD flare ups had reduced but I was getting more breathless. Could not have a SPYRO as I have monthly

Brain Inflammation
Last week I completed the MIN-102 trial which concluded with an MRI. The next day I received a call from the neurologist saying there are changes from the last MRI (9/19) and what is brain inflammation. She felt it urgent enough to prompt a video visit with me and my neurologist. I got the radiologist

Would you recommend the use of sauna for someone with CKD or Kidney transplant? Any good experience?
I have been reading a lot about the benefits of infrared sauna in general about health(cardiovascular, inflammation, cognitive, hormonal). Some studies mention benefits to the kidney function (http://europepmc.org/article/MED/17267744). Before buying one I would like to know if anyone had positive results
