Selected Gene mRNA Expression Is Not Predictive of Improved Overall Survival Among Patients Undergoing Surgery for Stage II-III Lung Cancer.
A phase III study examining whether messenger (m)RNA expression correlated with sensitivity or resistance to chemotherapy did not confer a statistically significant advantage in overall survival for patients with resected stage II-III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), according to research presented

Liver transplant ambivalence
I took my brother to his hepatology appt this morning (he has hepatopulmonary syndrome as a result of his liver disease). The registrar was great and gave us an overview of all the LT considerations and my brother stared at the floor quite disinterested-he won’t read up on it and would rather not know

Road Rage!
A piece of road walks into a bar and declares to all its occupants: "I'm the hardest bit of bitumen in the whole of this town!" The piano player stops and the bar goes deadly silent. After a brief pause, all eyes drop, the pianist returns to playing and the piece of road pulls up a bar stool

Kidney Transplant and Covid Prison
I was actually feeling more like my true self and confident that I was recovering nicely from the transplant surgery, then the covid hit and I have been a prisoner in my own house. The only social activity I have is going for labs and doctor appointments. I miss all the things I used to do: going

Missing protein helps small cell lung cancer evade immune defences.
Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) cells are missing a surface protein that triggers an immune response, allowing them to hide from one of the body’s key cancer defenses, a new study led by UT Southwestern researchers suggests. The findings, reported online today in Cancer Research, a journal of the American

Is this real?
There are so many things racing in my head right now I don’t know where to start. I realize that I can no longer go on living with my existing condition. My father recently passed away in October. He was a liver transplant (2) survivor. He’s in a better place. I spent thanksgiving with my mother, along

New combination of immunotherapies shows great promise for treating lung cancer.
McMaster researchers have established in lab settings that a novel combination of two forms of immunotherapy can be highly effective for treating lung cancer, which causes more deaths than any other form of cancer. The new treatment, yet to be tested on patients, uses one form of therapy to kill a significant

Here we go again!
Had 2 thirds of my right lung removed in June (followed by Chemo & Radiotherapy). Latest scan shows that the cancer is back along the "Cut" where the left the top part of my lung. Can't believe its back after only 6 months (and with all the chemo & Radiotherapy). They are saying its inoperable and

Has anyone received the Covid-19 Vaccine while taking Immunotherapy?
Fellow cancer patients, I have been very concerned about how my immunotherapy (Opdivo/nivolumab) might affect my body’s response to the Covid-19 vaccine. During my past year on this treatment, my immune system has “overresponded” on several occasions as can be a side-effect of the treatment. Although

Finding Support
Hello everyone~ I'm new in the Raleigh, NC area and looking for someone to take the journey with me through the kidney transplant process. I don't know where I can go to reach out to find folks who can volunteer to go down this path. I cannot begin the transplant program without having a supportive partner

Is there a difference between Collapsing Glomerulopathy and C3?
My son, 17, was just diagnosed with collapsing Glomerulopathy after having had a kidney transplant in June of 2020. My doctor told me there is no known cases of it happening in pediatric patients and my son is the youngest she knows of to ever have it. She explained to me that it usually happens either
