Alpha-lipoic acid
Has anyone on here used a Alpha-
lipoic
acid
supplement, to help remove heavy metals from the body? If so . . . Did you see good results? . . . And if the results were good, can anyone recommend a brand and where they got it from? Thank you, Tracy

R-alpha Lipoic Acid
I read in the Autumn 2023 ME Association magazine that R-Alpha
Lipoic
Acid
could be helpful for someone with ME. I use Methotrexate for my RA. Has anyone used this supplement with Methotrexate?

Lorenzo's Oil Revisited

Aldixyl
also adds conjugated linoleic
acid
, plus "powerful antioxidants at high dosages containing alpha
lipoic
acid
". Usual promises of lowering VLCFA levels and imflammation. I quite like the look of
Aldixyl.
Is this news only to me?

Itching for answers.... thankyou!
Striking comments about the efficacy of some treatments such as Alpha
Lipoic
Acid
and Beta-alanine sound interesting as do a number of responses citing Ruxolitinib (Jakafi). However the latter has its own long list of possible side effects.

Alpha Lipoic Acid and its benefits
Alpha
Lipoic
Acid
exists in 3 different forms. Only one form is effective. a) R - Alpha
Lipoic
Acid
-> this is the only form that is effective. It is water and fat soluble, biologically active, 12X more potent than other forms. b) S - Alpha
Lipoic
Acid
- or synthetic form.

I am now able to tolerate antibiotics again after my nerves healed
- Benfotiamine
- 600 mg a day
- Life Extension R
Acid
- 3 capsules, around 750 mg a day
- Cod Liver Oil
(contains DHA) which helps the myelin sheath repair (I stopped being completely vegan for a while).

I figured out how to tolerate antibiotics (trimethoprim in this case) without huge neuropathic pain flare!! (for real this time!)
After experimenting a lot, I figured out that by taking R-Alpha
Lipoic
Acid
(stabalized ALA supplements) I was able to completely prevent the neuropathic pain when taking high dose Trimethoprim.

But I really like Pqq carnitine alpha
lipoic
acid
. These are all really, really important ones. I’m not a big fan of antman or in our these nicotinamide products. I look at it and have a different view on that. It again is listening to the wisdom of the body.
