Real-world evidence on levodopa dose escalation in patients with Parkinson’s disease treated with istradefylline (Nourianz)
These findings suggest that initiating istradefylline before other
levodopa
-adjunctive therapies may mitigate LDD increases, potentially reducing occurrence or severity of
levodopa
-induced complications in long-term istradefylline treatment.Article Link below:https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.06.02.22275921v1

Which are your effects drinking alcool while taking levodopa?
The researches says that alcool can increase the side effects of
levodopa
and worse PD symptoms. In my experience if I drink about 2/3 glasses of wine and after drinking a Margarita, my symptoms of PD get improve.

Apomorphine
It sounds like a nightmare; a drug that has no relation to morphine, that's meant for dogs, makes you incredibly nauseous and sick, needs to be administered via a pump or injection and would be given during off periods which I don't have or with
Levodopa
which I don't take.

Tasigna off label for parkinson's disease. What happens when the smallest kid on the block gets run out of town. Time for a vote.
There were many times when I could skip my
levodopa
- I DIDN'T NEED IT!!! While on TASIGNA, I once went 15 hours between doses!! 5. When I started on TASIGNA, my dose was 300 mg
levodopa
every three hours. That's a total of 2400 mg daily.

I’m taking two carbidopa
levodopa
at 25/100 and the tremors are much much worse and stiffness is worse as well. I can’t take any more than two a day because my gut will not take it and the pain in my stomach becomes much much worse as well.

Experiences with bHaptics TactGloves for Tass vCR stimulation paradigm?
I mostly use the gloves in the evening, more than 4 hrs after the last
levodopa
medication. So far it's hard to tell on potential benefits. I do feel more relaxed while using the gloves and recently noticed a slight improvement of smell/taste.

IPX203 ;promising new PD drug?
https://parkinsonsnewstoday.com/news/license-ipx203-extended-release-
levodopa
-parkinsons/ 1. Does anyone have any experience with this drug, perhaps participated in trials, they would share? 2. I know that some people get Rx filled in Canada. Because prices are more reasonable.

IRL1117, Potential Improvement on Levodopa, May Enter Clinical Trial
IRLAB Therapeutics has selected a dopamine receptor agonist candidate called IRL1117 to advance as a Parkinson’s disease treatment, potentially as a longer-lasting alternative to
levodopa
with lesser side effects.

PD Meds Not Working
I was diagnosed in 2019 and my MDS prescribed the standard carb/
levodopa
and it made my symptoms worse. So I started taking a variety of supplements and that was working until recently when my symptoms got worse. My MDS put me on Sinemet and my symptoms got worse.

Swapping Rasagiline for Safinamide - Hobson’s Choice or out of the frying pan and into the fire?
I have been on Rasagiline from the start. 8 years as my staple bedrock of my cocktail of PD drugs principally Ropinirole, Amantadine and of course Co-Careldopa. I have a pacemaker and take Atorvastatin and Ramipril for heart issues. Now the pharmacy says Rasagiline is in short supply in the UK and likely

Mum newly diagnosed with MSA-P and we are all struggling
She was advised she either has Parkinson’s or a Parkinsonism and was started on
levodopa
. This help but she still continued to loose significant weight and muscle mass. They couldn’t figure out why.

Treating PD with levodopa combined with tetracycline (Effects of levodopa on gut bacterial antibiotic resistance in Parkinson’s disease rat)
The combination of
levodopa
and antibiotics, such as tetracycline and vancomycin, in the treatment of PD may decrease the amount of corresponding antibiotic resistance genes in gut bacteria, which would give a theoretical basis for treating PD with

PD sucks
PD suspected by GP in November 2022. Confirmed by neurologist in January 2023. Tried different meds - now on rotigotine patches plus after research, I now take mucuna morning and afternoon. Supposed to provide 240mg L-Dopa each day. It helps with constipation. What bothers me most is poor

Miraculous Story of a person who underwent stem cell transplant in 1999
After the transplant, dyskinesias increased, so
levodopa
was reduced. Controlled-release carbidopa/
levodopa
25/100 mg was reduced to one per day and was discontinued by February 2000, 13 months after transplant. He continued to take trihexyphenidyl, selegiline, and amantadine.

carbidopa/levodopa
I'm trying to eliminate carbidopa/
levodopa
for RLS. It has augmented to the point that I need it every 3 hrs. around the clock. Neurologist will never prescribe low dose opioid. I am substituting 50 mg pregablin for one of those doses every other time.
