Is carbidopa killing Parkinsons patients at an alarming rate?
(Photo shows Alex and his wife Alexis) In 2014, Dr. Marty Hinz et al published an open-access paper, "The Parkinson disease death rate: carbidopa and vitamin B6," https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4211847/ in which they put forward a sensational claim that from 1978-2011, the death rate of

Relationship Between Levodopa and Dyskinesias and How Thiamine Can Help
I think the main concern for everybody with PD is to know the truth about relationship between long-term use of Levodopa and Dyskinesias and how Thiamine protocol can help. Dr Costantini has told me that people who are taking Sinemet with Thiamine WILL NOT develop Dyskinesia even in long-term use. I

Thiamine and Dr Costantini, what we know and don't know
Sorry this is so long, it is meant to be a summary, but there’s a lot to say. There is now a wealth of information on the discovery by the Italian neurologist Dr Antonio Costantini that high dose Thiamine can be used to treat a range of neurological diseases including Parkinson’s disease. More Correspondence with Dr Costantini
Yesterday I wrote to Dr Costantini explaining my situation : age 76, 80 kg, newly diagnosed, mild temor etc. I have just started very low dose of Ropinirole. I asked him about dosage etc. I also explained that I am a retired research chemist with some very modest knowledge in biochemistry and would like

SIDE EFFECTS
I have read in several different sources that levodopa /carbidopa side effects are/could be severe. Am wondering what everyone's take is. I read somewhere that the med is good for 5 years and then causes all sorts of issues. My DR prescribed it last Feb but I have yet to start it and are controlling

Can NOW's Dopa Mucuna substitute for Carb/Levo 25-100MG-100MG Tab? Concerned about Sinemet's future effects ...
First I want to thank the members here for the warm welcome to the group. It means a lot with everyone friendly & smart. Second: my partner and I prefer a natural product over a chemical one, are concerned about Sinemet's future effect on me, etc. We were hoping to substitute Carb/Levo 25mg-100mg tab

How to treat increased level of homocysteine while on levodopa treatment
Normally doctors recommend treating with high dose of B12, B6 and Folate. Unfortunately one or more of these vitamins shortens the metabolism time for Levodopa thereby increasing the off period. How do we fix the problem ? --Shankar

Worth repeating - GioCas: "I can guarantee that my tremor after about four months of b1 has shrunk and after three years is almost zero like this: High doses of continuous B1 as indicated by dott Costantini. Hallucinations: "It's the Dopamine, Stupid!"
For some months, we have been unpleasantly aware of a certain TV ad claiming that a large percentage of PwP are prone to hallucinate. The disease is a big enough monkey on our backs, do we need an added social stigma like this? Well, if you thought those hallucinations are just a sign of brain disease

PD tremor started on my non-dominant side yesterday
Parkinson’s disease is relentless I knew that but I thought I’d have good use of my left hand for several more years . This sucks! At least I have no serious memory issues so far. BTW, I haven’t been a frequent poster on this blog for a long time because I’ve been so satisfied with the result of

Comtan (entacapone)
Has anyone tried this? For Parkinson patients it is prescribed to make the levodopa effects last longer. On those really bad days we all have it seems as if I am dosing myself every 4-6 hours. I only take 1/2 of a 25/50 pill at a time but it would be great if I would be able to stretch that out to

Stalevo vs mucuna pruriens
Yesterday I went to my doctor with a question: Can I replace stalevo with mucuna pruriens, on the grounds that the first is a chemical drug whereas the second is a natural plant extract. She said NO, because 1) You cannot control the amount of l-dopa contained in each mucuna capsule, so there is a chance

Restless legs!!
Hi I was diagnosed at 38. I'm now 44. I was weaned off Mirapexin last week due to over spending and I'm currently being weaned onto Entacapone. However the last 2 nights my restless leg has been worse than ever. Has anyone else done this and please tell me it gets better 🙈🙈

Has anyone had experience with this? Diagnosis is Lewy Body D and he cannot take carbidopa/ levodopa. Exercise he can do is not enough. Very tight neck. Shoulders hurt, mainly left. Gets 5 min masage after 30 min exercise session with trainer 2 or more x week

CBD oil and more frustration
I received Provocan CBD oil with great anticipation. I weaned Dan off of his morning daily dose of Carb/ levodopa. Although we never saw much change with this med, at this small dose the neck rigidity seemed its best . (But So hard to know for sure.) For two days his legs buckled in the morning. Was
