ATM gene mutation
I just received results from genetic testing that I have a ATM gene mutation. I am currently not on any meds and my last PSMA pet scan was negation. I am scheduled for a follow up PSA test mid march based on rising PSA after 5 years undetectable. Based on the ATM finding will this change any future therapy

Getting the NDT dosage right
Hello again friends, I'm writing again in the hope that your collective expertise will come up with a solution for me. The use of thyroid hormone liothyronine in patients with heart failure - Another Pearce-linked Trial
Fascinating seeing these words in the context of a medical trial:

Liothyronine (T3) is a safe tablet and has few side effects because it is a synthetic version of triiodothyronine, a naturally occurring hormone

Help boosting thyroid without medication?
Hello all I have posted before as my thyroid function is poor but always comes back in range (my TSH never rises even with low levels) so no chance of medication on the NHS (other than statins for high cholesterol which I refuse). I did some recent tests TSH 1.95 (0.27-4.2) T4 14.6 (12-22) T3

I am still struggling terribly to tolerate any doseage of levo or lio - combo or mono. It makes me feel even worse/is completely debilitating. I have tried changing when I take the doses, the brand etc you name it and still no better. It’s notable that my blood pressure gets too low on it too. Am I

Official trial for patients to stop their thyroxine for 6 weeks. Has anyone done this?
Have any members done this trial? This trial run by Newcastle Hospitals Trust ends in November 2024. It involves hypothyroid patients stopping their thyroxine for 6 weeks - to see how they felt when not taking thyroxine, and if they'd recommend a friend doing the same. ITT Improve Thyroid Treatment

Study
Apologies if I’m way behind and have missed a thread or two on this topic. Has anyone heard of the current study in Newcastle where patients stop their T4 for 6 weeks so doctors can see if they really need it?

Is there any correlation between low thyroid hormones & spinal stenosis
Hi, Just curious. Was just diagnosed with severe spinal stenosis. I believe it has been going on for years & reasons to believe possibly not acquired but congenital. I know thyroid issues do not cause it & if there is a congenital aspect to mine of course it is not the reason. But researching any links

Important caveat regarding estrogen therapy
Prof. Richard Wassersug tells me that estrogen therapy may be contraindicated if you have a BRCA 1 or 2 gene mutation. You can get a free, saliva germline genetic test of 30 genes from Color, Inc. as part of the PROMISE registry.

Obtaining T3 in the UK
Hi My T4 is high (22.2) and T3 low (4.0). It appears I am a poor converter of T4 to T3 and would benefit from taking T3. I am aware the doctors won’t even test for T3 levels, let alone prescribe it. Can anyone recommend a reliable company that sells T3 or even a way to get prescribed in the UK. In
