Mitral Valve Replacement - Tissue or Metal valve?
Hi all, hope your evening is going well. I had an ECG on Monday and I was told I had a leaky Mitral valve and it needs replacing. I have an angiogram next Friday. I was shocked and I'm still processing the news. I'm no athlete by any stretch of the imagination, but I have never smoked, do not drink,

Did you gain any weight when you talk HRT? I'm very concerned about this as I've read several reviews of people saying that they did and I haven't eaten disorder so that kind of thing terrifies me.

Hyperosmia (heightened sense of smell) after op
It's now nearly 5 weeks since my valve replacement and bypass, and while I'm totally pain free (except when I breath in) my nausea and lack of appetite seems to be getting worse. I'm now thinking that this is due to hyperosmia (it's getting worse), which I've had since I came round from the op. I can

If feel a bit daft asking this here - but a very high DEXA score?
I had an ankle scan years ago as part of a work "well woman clinic" and was told I was borderline oestopenia Then as I had my ovaries out because of cysts I had a private dexa scan as a baseline for making decisions about hrt etc My results seemed a bit 'off' but everyone says oh it's fine (it probably

Saw a specialist
I saw a specialist in endometriosis last week and it was eye opening. I had to pay for it or wait 12 months so I opted to go private. I spent over an hour with him and he was incredible. He explained everything and was very practical. I had a list of questions and he answered all of them. I already know

Valve replacement
hellooo, I am 25 years old and due to have valve replacement surgery at some point (not sure when, just waiting for the right time) I have Truncus Arteriosus and had valve replacement surgery when I was a baby but haven’t needed one just yet since. My question is… I am currently always tired. Not

Newly Diagnosed Polymyalgia
I am a 57 year old female living on a smallholding in the Welsh hills. I have historically suffered on/off back pain that tended to travel between my lumber and thoracic regions, the last three years being more on than off. I finally have a diagnosis, of quite frankly, a condition/disease that I had

I have tried taking black cohosh 80 mg a day and that didn't do anything except for maybe take 5% off. I went

Hot flash relief for anyone? What helps relieve feeling hot all the time?
I have been struggling with severe hot flashes and feeling hot all the time for about 6 months now. I have severely low estrogen as in non-existent at all and so my levels are not even showing up to even zero because of the fact that I've not had very many periods due to the fact that I have secondary

GnRH side affects and endo pain
I have had my second monthly GnRH injection out of three that I am having but have really been struggling with menopause side affects such as hot flushes, all over aches and feeling exhausted. Has anyone else had this and did these symptoms go on their own or did you have to have HRT tablets or did anything

I've been prescribed Amitriptyline for pelvic pain. Has anyone had success with this medication?
I've seen the consultant for Adenomyosis. He is referring me for an urgent mri to confirm it's Adenomyosis and listed for a hysterectomy, including my ovaries. It's an 18 month wait. So, I've been prescribed Amitriptyline and he wants me to trial Prostsap again. Which I'm nervous to do, as it was the

Long time member advice required on recent thyroid blood test after starting HRT.
I’m just after some advice on my recent blood test I had taken myself. I know the drill no levo 24 hours before. NDT gap of 8 hours. Vitamins stoped week before My test was taken at the same time as all other blood test 7.10am. I always stick to this routine to ensure consistency. I decided to take

Medichecks hormone test. Any thoughts?
I’ve been on thyroid replacement for about six years now and starting to feel that quite soon I will have improved as much as I’m going to and I’m wondering if HRT could be the last part of what I need to feel more like me. I’ve remained reasonably well all things considered but it’s as though I’m a

Extra heart beats - should I pursue this?
HiI have on going palpitations. They are partly what drove me to gp in 2019 when I was diagnosed. They are better than they were. I take 100/15. I have found They are less when I take my t3 all in one go. I am about to start trial of hrt. (I have a second post). The doctor sent me for an ECG. This

HRT - does it take effect quickly?
Hi For those of you on hrt do you feel the difference quickly or is it slow like levo? I am just about to start a trial of oestrogen patches and progesterone tablets. I still have regular periods but have on going fatigue and muscle aches, palpitations etc. Gp thinks it's because I'm perimenopausal.

Nausea after valve replacement and bypass
Had my mitral valve replaced and a bypass 4 weeks ago now, and have been home 3 weeks. Suffered nausea and lack of appetite from day 1 out of surgery, and aches and pains until this weekend - miraculously they all seem to have gone away. However the nausea seems to actually be getting worse, took me
