Milburn.
When I suggested
Interferon
the Consultant said if I wanted that I could have it but I sensed he felt the likely side effects were likely to be severe. He did admit that
Interferon
was less likely to interfere with my immune system. Left to me to decide which way to go.

Post 659 An extra pill is not always the answer 9 Jul 2020
I found techniques so as to not give the
interferon
any chance to hurt me. If I had any other problems, I looked first at other ways to solve my issue. I did not run to the doctor for a new pill. I slowed myself, thought about what I did and how I could remedy it.

Hydroxycarbamide or pegylated interferon?
My consultant has said that as I am now 60 she wants me to start either Hydroxy or peg
interferon
and there's my dilemma!! I am scared of either! I feel I want to stay as I am at the moment while my levels arent particularly high, but then that might be the wrong decision!?

Interferon
The last time I spoke with a haematologist he suggested I may be prescribed
interferon
which would mean I would have to inject myself, apart from that he didn't give any more details. Is anybody else with similar details on
interferon
who could share their experience of this drug?

Do you have a contact / support person at your hospital?
I contacted her over a week ago re my appointment today, I think I am meant to be starting
interferon
today and just wanted to know as it's a big thing and with current restrictions I cant take anyone with me which I normally do.

New diagnosis update
I eventually got a call back from the haematologist who did manage to answer some of my questions (apparently I have favourable karyotype) and offered some information about future treatment although he still wants to stick to a wait and see approach or possibly start me on

Treatment with interferon-α2b speeds up recovery of COVID-19 patients in exploratory study.
Researchers conducting an exploratory study on a cohort of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Wuhan found that treatment with
interferon
(IFN)-α2b significantly reduced the duration of detectable virus in the upper respiratory tract and reduced blood levels of interleukin(IL)-6 and C-reactive protein (CRP),

When I was taking
Interferon
Beta Ib I had it set out when to take it so I made sure I was home in time and fed before my injection. My life was far from limited, it was ordered. It had a pattern, it had security, it had a method, habits. I might say that it had certainty.
