Dr. Shadman on Fixed Durations of Treatment in CLL
"Last year, many patients would likely opt for a chemoimmunotherapy regimen as opposed to an oral drug like
ibrutinib
(Imbruvica) because it is a fixed duration of treatment, says Shadman.

New research study reported in NEJM: Ibrutinib–Rituximab or Chemoimmunotherapy for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

Possible Risk of Fungal Infection with Ibrutinib
"In conclusion, this case demonstrates that the risk of fungal infection associated with
ibrutinib
is not limited to patients with relapsed CLL, but is also present with frontline therapy.

Is it the methatrexate or a rejection of Ibrutinib
It's been a while since I have posted, mainly because things have been going ok since being put on
ibrutinib
last September. Prior to that I was also on subcutaneous methatrexate (20mgs) for psoriatic arthritis but was taken off it when I began treatment.

Ibrutinib provides favourable survival outcomes in patients with comorbidities versus established therapies
Notwithstanding, pooling created subgroups large enough for meaningful comparisons and demonstrated the benefit of
ibrutinib
versus comparator across a range of factors, reinforcing the benefit/risk profile of
ibrutinib
in patients with CLL/SLL.

Curious to know the preferred first-line treatment for CLL in other countries
I live in the US, and my understanding is that
Ibrutinib
is increasingly the preferred first-line treatment for CLL in the US. But with so much research in other countries, I’m curious to know the preferred first-line treatment in your country. Thanks!

With a CLL diagnosis, knowing more about your immune system could save your life!
...those treated with
ibrutinib
had the highest rates of complications among all of the patients (40.6%), with all of their complications involving bleeding-related events.

Chimeric antigen receptor-modified T cell therapy in chronic lymphocytic leukemia
In the future, combination with new drugs such as
ibrutinib
, venetoclax, and idelalisib, and sequential infusion of CAR-T cells targeting multiple antigens like CD19, CD23, and FcμR may be the trend of CAR-T therapy for CLL.

Petechiae rash on lower legs due to ibrutinib?
I have been on 420 mg of
ibrutinib
for five weeks now and have slowly been weaned off prednisone (now down to 5 mg). This is may second bout with CLL and anemia in two years and thus the reason my Hematologist put me on
ibrutinib
. As soon as the doc put me on ibrut.
