Hydroxyurea and Zoloft
Hi everyone, Has anyone experienced using hydroxyurea with Zoloft ? Does it have any interaction? My mom is going through anxiety due to some family problems and I was thinking it would be beneficial for her to start using Zoloft to lower her stress level but I’m not sure if it can have any side effect

I am a 44yr old woman and was diagnosed in February 2020 with essential thrombocythemia even though my bone marrow test and bloodwork said otherwise and no sign of MPN per the pathology report. Due to my high platelets my dr has started to treat me with hydroxyurea 500mg once daily for ET. On my last

Severe Tinnitus : hydroxycarbamide vs interferon
Unfortunately both
Hydroxycarbamide
and Interferon might have tinnitus as side effect. My specialist is not sure which one to chose. Is there anyone who has tinnitus which became worse after taking hydroxy or interferon??

'Benefits' of being classified as "extremely vulnerable"
Being just over 70 with ET, slight hypertension and on
Hydroxycarbamide
(5500mg pw) I appear to tick enough boxes to fall into the extremely vulnerable group, although I feel anything but!

Hydroxyurea vs interferon for younger patients
My 18yr old son has JAK2+ ET. Right now he only takes daily 81 aspirin. During my discussion with the hematologist, their drug of choice, if needed, is hydroxyurea. Everything I’ve read and have seen on this board is that interferon (peg) is preferred for the younger ET patients. She said HU is better

No face to face haematology hospital appointments for at least 4 months
I was asked to pick up my medication -
hydroxycarbamide
, directly from the department and not from the hospital pharmacy. Any future blood tests should be carried out at my surgery and I would be contacted when arrangements had been arranged as to where I could pick up my future supplies of meds.

Shoulder and hand pain
I am on
Hydroxycarbamide
500mg a day. Recently my blood count went from 450 to 630 with horrendous fatigue, which is far worse than normal and also pains in my shoulders and hands which I have never had before. Can anyone tell me whether the pains are connected with ET please?

Covid 19/MPNs - Shielding or Not!
Bloods taken but was told ET was very unlikely (between 1 and 3 in every 100000). 3 weeks later I was back with consultant and given the news that I had tested positive for the JAK 2 mutation (put on
hydroxycarbamide
and aspirin) My whole point in sharing this is to highlight that when we are told that

Hair loss ET treatment
I am 72 and suffer from ET I took
Hydroxycarbamide
for six months, various problems plus hair loss. ( Hair loss normalised a few months after ceasing hydro.) Now prescribed interferon alfa, still hair loss if I was prescribed Anagnelide would it cause hair loss?

Blood tests & Venesections during self isolation
Also, we all need regular blood tests to make sure our blood counts are ok, especially on drugs such as
Hydroxycarbamide
. If the situation arises where we need a venesection how can that be done if you have to self isolate? Mark

Immune system + coronovirus advice
I’m on
hydroxycarbamide
for ET. My consultant said last week my immune system is compromised but didn’t say to self isolate. Not sure what extra precautions I should be taking other than the extra hand washing etc. Any advice on here?

Biopsy for Dx essential thrombocytomia
Just Dx with ET and went for second opinion. Jak 2 positive, platelets between 485-550 (currently) 515, I’m in my 7O’s. 1st dr wanted to schedule biopsy, 2nd dr said she felt it wasn’t necessary as addition blood tests did not reveal other causes for high platelets. She said it’s not that it was wrong
