Advice Please

My symptoms at the time were dizziness, brain fog, and a constant feeling of internal ‘jitters’ which all left me feeling really unwell. Also had the usual weight gain etc. It wasn’t until I was tested for antibodies that I was started

Wrong diagnosis
Hi everyone, I don't post very much, a bit of a lurker but I will be leaving the group anyway but thought I would share my recent update. Three years ago after raised infection markers at my previous doctors I was diagnosed with PMR and put on 40mg steroids, tapering dose. I was not referred to see

Spring Covid Booster
Hello everyone. Hope you’ve had a good Easter 🐣 I’ve had a text from my GP inviting me for my spring booster. I have SLE. I’ve had 4 vaccines already and have caught Covid twice. I’m not sure about this booster. Has anyone else been invited to have theirs and what are your thoughts on yet another vaccine

When I arrived in the UK one week ago my daughter had been testing positive for Covid for 5 days. She had no symptoms and was very frustrated. Testing regularly she finally tested negative today. 🥳 I have tested negative the entire time. Last year my partner had his knee replaced and got Covid. I was

Covid vaccine
I have just been invited for my Spring Covid booster (uk). I have already had Covid twice this year. January was the first time I'd caught it and received antivirals. 3 weeks ago I had Covid again and threw it off fairly quickly. My question is, surely my antibodies will be good and do I actually need

COVID Spring Booster
I have had PMR since April 2021 and have (after several flares) reduced to 1.5 pred. finally using the DSNS method. I have been called for my Covid Spring Booster and wonder how you would advise I deal with it? It was the second jab that triggered PMR, (though I did have symptoms after the first) and

Covid 19 post-laparoscopy
Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone else has had Covid post-laparoscopy and had a horrible experience too? I got it 6 weeks post surgery and have had awful gastro symptoms with it. Have diarrhoea which has now lasted 9 days so far and I have been unable to absorb my pill so I now have my first period

Kennel cough vaccine dilemma
My wife recently took my dog to the vets for his annual booster and kennel cough vaccine. As I am immunocompromised I am aware that there is a very small risk to myself as the kennel cough vaccine is live. I also understood (maybe incorrectly) that if my dog did not have the vaccine and were to subsequently

HU and prefibrotic myelofibrosis
Recently diagnosed first with ET. put on 500mg hydroxyurea daily with platelets at 617. After bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, diagnosis changed to prefibrotic myelofibrosis. HU had brought platelets down to 270 but I suffered from bad side effects. Dr didn’t want to change med or dosage. I resisted

oocyte activation
Evening all, hope you’re all well. We had our final planning consultation today for round 3, and we’ve decided to go ahead with oocyte activation following total fertilisation failure on our last icsi round. Has anyone got any success stories? Hopefully we’ll have more mature eggs/better quality

prednisolone 3 week course followd by surgery
Hi please can anyone advise how long to wait in between a prednisolone course and surgery ? I have heard from the nurses that if you have an IM steroid injection they postpone surgery for 6 to 8 weeks to allow the imunosuppresant effects to wear off before surgery. my RA consultant seems to think

Covid Jab Next Week
As I’m classed as extremely vulnerable I’m pleased that I’m getting my covid jab next Thursday. Not going out into public places unless absolutely necessary is very boring. Hope you all get your jabs soon. and none of us get bad side effects. Best regards, Jean x

Update on covid-19 treatments & eligibility
We've updated our article on the COVID-19 treatments and their eligibility, which you can read here: https://www.lupusuk.org.uk/covid-19-treatments/ Most of the updates to the eligibility are not lupus-specific (for example they have added some respiratory conditions), but they have added some co-morbidities

Starting over
Most of you know I haven't run much this year, also that I'm retiring, actually retired a little earlier than expected, then caught COVID. I worked right through the pandemic in a residential home, I stayed up all night caring for people with COVID, I worked extra hours when my coughing colleagues needed

I am so upset and don’t know where to go from here…
I went to the doctors with 3 months of pain while going for a pee, I have been on two antibiotics and none have worked. So, I made an appointment with the doctor to speak about what to do to help with the pain and find out why it was happening, or so I thought. I went in and her answer was go on the

Rebound COVID after Plaxovid.
So I took a COVID test yesterday just for the heck of it since having COVID starting March 26 and was treated with Paxlovid. Well to my surprise it came back positive. I tested negative after 6 days on paxlovid. I have zero symptoms. I called my oncologist and he is pulling me off the Venclexta for 2

Asthma post COVID
I had asthma as a child and "grew out of it" - never needed an inhaler until 3 months ago. I was extremely active, an avid soccer player, hiking, biking, everything. I have been taking allergy shots all my life which helped make the asthma negligent. I got back to back colds in December-January, the
