Blank mind / altered mental state, lack of thoughts and visual imagination (aphantasia) caused by TBI and psychtropic meds
Hi everyone Firstly, I'd like to thank everyone for their kind and thoughtful replies to my previous post. Everyone on this community is so kind and helpful, the support is fantastic and there's a real morale boosting spirit here, which has boosted my mood. Thank you :-) Since my head injury last year

Dad in ICU for past three weeks
My dad has now been in intensive care for three weeks. After two weeks we were seeing a slight improvement in that he opened his eyes, nodded, gripped our hands and we were starting to feel very positive. Unfortunately he then became very unstable due to an internal bleed and had emergency surgery

Help - Bladder issues post laparoscopy
Hi, I had extensive operation on my ureter, bladder, and rectum among other areas in 12/09/2016. I had catheter for a couple of weeks and it was removed yesterday. I had cystogram to check the bladder integrity and the result was good. However since then I am having problem with my bladder. I can't

Strategies to move forwards after head injury
My last (long) post on here was a brief explanation about my mTBI and post concussion syndrome, its impact on my life, and the wretched combination of living with cognitive deficits and a drug-induced movement disorder (tardive dyskinesia). I saw an earlier post that someone has put a day ago about

Hi, new here!
Hi, my name is T and my 15 year old son is now getting worked up for some type of inflammatory bowel disease. He was diagnosed at 1 with eosinophilic gastroenteritis and now we need another scope. He was negative for celiac at that time but his blood work this time around did suggest it could be celiac

Depression and Getting out of Bed
I've posted before about how I am always late to work, but I haven't really explained the reason. First of all, I have never been a morning person, so I've always spent the morning being angry that I'm awake. However, I was always able to get up when I was supposed to. Now I can't do that anymore. No

Hi I'm new here hoping to make friends with similar issues xx
Hi. I'm quite isolated by my low mood at the moment. I was managing ok until a recent trauma set me back and I just don't seem able to get past it. Feeling tearful and anxious. I get up with the intention of getting out but then the day goes by and I've just stayed in. I'm a wheelchair user and I live

Talking to small child about Daddy's injury
Hi everyone. I'm new to the group. My partner (36 years old fit and healthy) suffered severe hypoxic brain injury 6 weeks ago. We have a 3 1/2 yo daughter. We are very open and honest generally as a family and i am telling her what is appropriate at this stage. I'd really like to hear from anyone who

End stage liver disease and kidneys failing
It has been a LONG journey with my dad to say the least. He has been an alcoholic for 15 plus years and has survived MANY near death/alcohol related accidents. His last drink was June 1 and his health has declined greatly over the past few months. (It's been declining but this is way worse) It's

Insecurity??
So for as long as i can remember ive avoided doing certain things because i would always feel like i was being judged for doing them. For example, ive never been able to start working out, not even at home, and im not sure why. If i ever tried id always get this weird feeling like i was being watched

2 Days in on Champix
Hi everyone. I am new to the group but have found the posts most helpful. I have been a 20 plus smoker for over 20 years. Decided to kick the habit a couple of times but always relapsed. My doctor told me about champix and I am now on day 2. One tablet at night for 3 days and then one in the morning

The joys of being a carer....
....even when you're ill yourself. Today is supposed to be the hottest day of the summer. 31 degrees. Thankfully the humidity level is relatively low at 59%, it's still fairly high. Because of this, I had no plans today except sitting indoors in front of my fan blowing lovely cool air on me. But my
