Good afternoon, Not been on here for a while , I was wondering if anyone here with the BRCA gene has had a preventative mastectomy, if so how was your experience? Did you have any regrets? We’re you happy with the surgery? What type ,if any reconstruction did you have? I was diagnosed with BRCA2 in

Anima
I know this is going 'off piste', but I would be interested to know whether anyone here is familiar with the Anima on line system that some GP surgeries are using for patients to contact them rather than the conventional method of a phone call or visit. Our surgery has been using this system for some

colonoscopy prep
hello, I am scheduled to have a colonoscopy and wondered if the preparation medication causes nausea? I have migraine and vertigo which cause nausea already and guess I won’t be able to take medicine for either or the PPI ? Hunger and stress trigger my migraines so I’m concerned the Prep med will make

Should I have a hysterectomy?
The short version is that I have adenomyosis, but it is well enough managed on zoladex/Tibolone that I'm not having any significant pain and not bleeding enough that it is a problem, but I do have lots of more minor issues and my consultant thinks a hysterectomy would be better. I've got the op booked

Help needed -- direction of travel
I am an active 79 year old located down in the pointy end of Cornwall, UK. I have led a healthy life except for the onset of Atrial Fibrillation at 65 (2010) and at 71 (2015), the onset of osteoarthritis in right knee. This is now just beginning to affect left knee but is all manageable at this stage

facial pain after suro
hi all I had surgery 15th June 2022 to remove a large tumour. I have had a few problems after including facial paralysis on my right side after but it literally normal now. I had a lot of injections. My right eye is completely dry and they did a nerve transplant to try and correct this. So have been

No running for me for 2 weeks 😭😭
After some oral surgery today I’ve been advised not to run for at least 2 weeks. I’ve just got to w6r3 so will have to go back a few weeks when I get back into it. 😢. O well fingers crossed 🤞 I’ll manage a run in time for Christmas 🧑🎄🧑🎄

is there any hope for me
I haven’t posted much about my journey. I am in the USA. I have never been in true remission. I am braca neg, her2 negative, folate on at 60 % HGS. No mutations in cancer tumor or me. Diagnosed Dec 2019 stage 3c now stage 4 metastasis Here is how much I have fought: Dec2019 full debunking surgery

No endo found in Lap, feel deflated :(
This is my first time posting, so hi! I have been having severe pelvic pain and lower back pain since 2019 now. I’ve had many investigations like ultrasounds, internal ultrasounds, blood tests etc, all coming back normal. My GP said it’s normal and “every girl gets period pain”, I’m 19 and I have

Swollen cord-stump after castration?
I got castrated three years ago, because the boys were inflammated, hard and numb. The right one cut out inguinal, got examinamed in pathology with result: no cancer. Thereby the left one got cut out from his sac-shelf directly, so i have the cord stump still in my inguinal left. It was often swollen

Min invasive Aortic valve replacement:- happy or disappointed?
I’m 67 yo, male, slightly overweight but otherwise good health but I have a severe Aortic Stenosis, that’s running at about 25% of full capacity. My only symptoms are slight breathlessness when climbing stairs. Saw a surgeon yesterday who wants to replace the valve with an animal valve, but he does not

⁹Overwhelmed... loss of mobility and medical negligence
This isn't a story I like to talk about or even think about but its the reality I've been forced to live. As with far too many people who have suffered with endo, I've been ignored, dismissed, minimilised and even told it was all in my head when it very obviously wasn't. Imagination doesn't create visible

Just some general advice while undergoing investigation.
Hi Thanks in advance for responses. My story, I am on long term zolodex, so medical menopause (due to endometriosis in right kidney) so I am in medical menopause and have been for 7 years. I had a check up and tv US in May was all clear. So around 4 weeks ago I started experiencing period like pains

Anxiety is back as bad as ever
Hi all, not doing well at all lately regarding anxiety. I know the reason but that doesn’t help. I have recently been told that I’m pre diabetic and that I have CKD both thought to be due to heart meds. Then the other day, out of the blue, another call from surgery regarding cholesterol results. All

Macular Hole
Hi, long term PMR/GCA sufferer been on 4mg for long enough and staying there! However I developed a macular hole which needed surgery. Has anyone else had this problem, is there likely any association of cause with GCA /PMR or Pred? Surgery done now and I have to wait and see how successful it is.
