Human growth hormone
Has anybody read about HGH use in prostate cancer patients to help prevent muscle loss and to fight fatigue? All we could find was something about lesser chance to end up with prostate cancer if plenty of HGH is present.

Thyroid Cancer
I had thyroid cancer so had mine removed. My food only goes down my right side of my pipe and my breathing pipe was damaged as well. I seem to get a lot of chest infections on my left side. I have a horse voice all the time. I have nodules on my lungs. I have other medical issues. I suffer from depression

Graves disease
Hi I have Graves disease (an autoimmune disorder) and am worried I should be looking into this side of things more, when going through IVF. Has anyone else got Graves disease and did you do anything differently than the 'regular' IVF patient? Thanks

Total thyroidectomy - what to expect?
A family member has just had her thyroid removed. She has Hashimoto's, the thyroid had become very hard and contained pre-cancerous cells. Does anyone have any advice/tips I could pass on to her? What should we expect now? She is not UK based.

Length of time to stabilise Graves / hyperthyroidism
Hi, This is an information post which I hope might help someone. When I was diagnosed with Graves / hyperthyroidism after an A&E visit I was told that I should feel better in 6-8 weeks when the thyroid with carbimazole evened itself out. I have an inflamed thyroid diagnosed by Ultrasound Well, it

Leg swelling - hyperthyroid
Hi, I was diagnosed with Graves two months ago, put on 20mg Carbimazole, 120mg Diltiazem daily. My last blood test on Dec 7 showed my thyroid numbers are in the normal range for the most part and so my Carbimazole dose was reduced to 5mg once per day; I was taken off the calcium channel blocker. I

John Midgley
Hi Everyone, I am so sorry to tell you all that our beloved Dr John Midgley passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon. I am so saddened by this news, as I know many of you will be. He worked so hard with his colleagues to make things better for thyroid patients. He will be sadly missed on this

Thyroid disease and osteopenia/osteoporosis
Hello everyone, I've had the results of my DEXA scan which shows I am at the top of the osteopenia score - any higher and I will have osteoporosis. Oddly, this is only in my hips - the scan showed my spine and femur compares well with someone in their 20s. I'm wondering if this is in any way linked

adrenal gland & thyroid
I recently read a book “The Great Thyroid Scandal (and how to avoid it)’ and “ticked” my way through the book as I have had 90% of the various symptoms detailed in the book for the past 30 years. It suggested that the adrenal gland & thyroid work closely together & if thyroid is not functioning as it

Swallowing issue
It's not a huge deal, but I seem to have some trouble swallowing lately (last month or so). Could that be related to my thyroid meds adjustment? I added T3 (15mcg) to my 75mcg Levo about 7 weeks ago. Or IS IT POSSIBLE to have a goitre inside the throat area that doesn't show on the neck? I do have Hashimotos

Shoulder pain and stiffness
in the last few months I have been experiencing a lot of pain in the base of my neck, across my shoulders and in my shoulder joints. I also have really tight muscles and knots in my upper back. Having read previous posts on here and read other information I am wondering if it is all thyroid related.

Can I eat 6 hours before thyroid test if I don't care about T4?
Hi there! I have an NDT thyroid blood test tomorrow morning at 9:00 am. I have read as many posts as I can to understand how to have the most accurate results possible, but because I am currently on antibiotics, I don't think I'll be able to follow all the excellent recommendations. I usually go to bed

Can thyroid function recover after RAI
I received RAI in 2010 for alleged nodules but then consultant thought I may have had Graves disease instead. Over the last 13 years, I have had my levothyroxine reduced from 150 to 100 and I fear it will be reduced again. I am 55 years old. My question is why does the doseage need reducing? Is it

The uptake results are in... and more confusion
I've received my uptake scan results today, which I was expecting to show a toxic nodule or few. Instead the report states..... There is uptake seen throughout the thyroid gland with relative increased tracer activity on the right when compared to the left, however, no focal nodule is seen. Thyroid
