Seen hormone specialist, more confused than ever...!
So I've been for my long overdue annual visit to my hormone doctor in Belgium and I have to admit I received quite a lot of confusing and even contradictory advice that I would love for members to comment on: First of all, when it comes to my massive weight gain (+25 kg) since being treated with high

What if my nearest and dearest don't like the idea of me fasting?

Getting too skinny- follow up
Thank you everyone for your suggestions and replies. I’m looking for a new GP and will follow up when I find one. I have an appointment with my rheumy in a week and will discuss the weight loss with her. I will get my thyroid checked. There’s also the option of a consultation with a dietician

Reducing saturated fat intake may delay progression in men with MYC amplification
This was only a mouse study, but they also looked at animal fat/saturated fat intake of metastatic men treated at some top institutions. They found an association between dietary saturated fat intake and PC lethality in men with metastatic disease who had a specific kind of tumor mutation called MYC

Fatty liver/IBS diet
I am so frustrated. I am trying to find the right diet to lose weight manage my fatty liver and IBS. I was on an extreme low carb diet and had my liver enzymes normal after my diagnosis. Then about 10 months later I developed IBS. I am having a terrible time trying to manage both. Any suggestions

Welcome Newbies: (Intermittent) Fasting (aka Not Snacking All Day) FAQ
Welcome to our friendly, active, rapidly-growing forum. There is now quite a bit of information available on the internet - and I try to "guide you through the maze." If you are not on an intra-venus drip - and been fed 24/7, you are Not Eating All Day aka Intermittent Fasting - it does not have to be

Newbies: Which Fasting strategy should I use?
Once you have transitioned into "fat-burning mode", you might widen your fasting window until you are fasting 16 hours a day and eating in an eight-hour window - This is known as Intermittent Fasting 16:8. You can (gradually) widen your fasting window to 18:6 or 20:4. I have been fasting 20:4 for over

How low Carbohydrate does your diet need to be?
Intermittent Fasting works best when combined with the Low-Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet see: https://healthunlocked.com/lchf-diet
Do we need Carbohydrates?

Is what food you eat really that important?
I personally know veggies, vegans and omnivores and don't see that much difference in how healthy they are, or their life expectancy/quality. Esselsytn recommends whole plant based diet with no oil, others, ultra low carb, full fat and both these opposits seem to work. My thoughts are the 3 demons:-

Anyone
Going out on a limb here but how many people have done a low fat diet for example Slimming World and later have been diagnosed with a Thyroid problem. Only asking as a few women I know who have thyroid problems have also done said diet, is there a link?

Coeliac blood test, when to eat gluten?
I've been on a
gluten
free
diet
now for 6 years since I was in my mid 20s as even the slightest amount of cross contamination from crumbs etc. started to set me off with severe bowel issues and I lost 2 stone. It still has the same effect now so I avoid it completely.

In good company
Well after my flare I am back down to 5mg and doing well! I have had to have another tooth out as the root broke but don’t think that was the steriods! So again thinking ahead for Christmas I have requested another front tooth! I paid privately and saw a rheumatologist who seemed to be happy with the

Green smoothies
I am dentally as well as visually challenged, and find it hard to chew kale, salad etc. I thought I'd try green smoothies as a substitute for lutein containing veg. Can anyone recommend the best juice for this? and dosage? I am also diabetic, so very sweet smoothies are out. Ann with the Hat

Low carb vegetable cheesy bake with crispy baby parsnips
Hi everyone, here's what I made for my evening meal tonight, its locally grown vegetables cooked in a cheese sauce, cauliflower mushrooms and baby tomatoes with crispy baby parsnips which I really like. I made a roux with gram flour goats milk and grated cheddar cheese. I used whole milk (goats)
