effects of chocolate
I have noticed that after eating chocolate, I feel extremely tired, spaced out and confused and I cannot concentrate for about an hour afterwards. I intend to keep a food diary to see what this may be, but I've also read about a condition called hypoglycemia, what is this? I've never had my blood glucose

Lipid Clinic Confusion (again!).
Today I had my lipid clinic appointment. I was nervous about this one as I have made a decision not to take any more statins. Long story about side effects and a family history of muscle disorder had finally convinced me that this is the right decision for me. I was sorry if I appeared hostile when I

Parkinsons Madopar and blood glucose levels
I am wondering if anyone else is taking Madopar and have been told that they are now Diabetic. Apparently the drug can alter blood glucose levels but how much I am unable to find out. I had words with my Consultant neurologist and GP who both say they have never heard of such a thing, yet it quite

How Sugar Can Ruin Your Life May 18th, 2009 Dangers of SugarIf you think it’s an exaggeration to say that something as common as sugar or refined carbohydrates can ruin your life, perhaps you should give more consideration to the excessive amounts of it that many people are consuming and the harmful

Steroid induced diabetes?
I had a huge set of bloods done last week as we may now be looking at lupus as well as RA. However, one result jumped out at me - my blood glucose levels were high. Normal range is between 3.something and 6.something. Mine were 8.0 at 10.a.m. without eating anything since the previous evening. I understand

Low glycemic index food and 'dumping'
Sometimes the nasty after-effects from meals might be improved with eating food from the right place on the glycemic index. There have been some questions about 'dumping' and insulin, and I thought I would try and explain things a bit. But I am not qualified in this area, so take what I write in

Sudden tiredness and weakness, ongoing fatigue. Finally an answer!
Hi all, I asked a while ago whether anyone else had sudden tiredness and a few responded likewise, so this update is for you and anyone else affected. Every now and then I have to put my head down and go to sleep for no apparent reason, completely knocks me out. It's not related to any regular

Being around smokers
Hi - have recently been semi-diagnosed as ""probable late-onset asthma"". Am currently on my third course of pred in the last couple of months, following a bad weekend where my peak flow was down to 270. Peak flow is now back up to 600, so seems to be doing the trick (it should be 645-ish; am 37 and

Are home cholesterol monitors worth buying?
Does anybody have experience of using a cholesterol monitoring device at home? They are similar to the blood glucose monitors and apparently the newer ones can measure HDL, LDL and triglycerides.

The question seems to have disappeared about 12 year old being tired. I am having similar problems with my 13 year old
Someone posted about there child aged 12 being very tired. I have just had my 13 year old daughter referred to Manchester. She has been diagnosed Coeliac for 3 years. Her recent test came back clear. Since September this year she has been very tired, dropping asleep after school and sleeping far too

Total knee replacement
I had surgert on Nov.21st and it's been a month since surgery. I go to physical therapy three times a week. I get a great workout for my knee for one hour straight. I also do exercises at home, and now I am starting to really get into my home for Christmas, and been doing holiday baking, my endurance
