Off topic- you only get one Mum
A few weeks ago hubby and I had a huge chat re my Mum and the history and hell of husbands and her way of being Mum to us. Hubby said he felt after trying to revive his Mum after she had a massive stroke that he wished there were times he could say simply I love you but that was not meant to be. He said

Can ascites go away?
Hi my dad has been diagnosed with decompensated alcoholic cirrhosis maddrey score 65.9. He got admitted to hospital in May with pretty bad Jaundice. Doctors kept him for 2 weeks, they did many treatments to bring bilirubin down and took blood tests every day. When he was discharged didn’t have ascites

Update to my 10.1 elf
From previous post where dr wouldn't do scan as elf was under 10.5, which nice guidelines do state, but my concern was my drs think anything upto 10.5 is completely normal range with no other references, I did book a private ultrasound last week which showed nothing at all with my liver not even any

I have a slightly abnormal liver function test. I don't think it's important. Only 2 issues 2 tests 1= alanine 42 and GGT 76 2=Alanine 56 GGT 78 Offered ultrasound, but not sure it's worth doing - don't want to use nhs time because covid. Interested to get feedback.

I am tired of high GGT, ALT and ALP
After my gallbladder surgery in March I keep taking liver function tests and they are not improving. I had all of it - colonoscopy,MRI, CT, gastroscopy and fibroscan. All is normal. But why GGT sits in 130, ALP in 150 and ALT in 60? It has been like that for 4 months and no improvement. :( . Pain

Preparing for treatment for hep c
Dr is trying to get me approved for treatments and I’m scared because I had hep b in the past and afraid it will come back if I do the treatments for hep c, I see where they say it can come back with new treatments, just worried, Dr says I have no liver damage yet, but my viral load is really high

Hello! I was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis due to alcohol. I clearly had a problem with my alcohol consumption, but it was very easy to quit. It was never questioned why my liver was damaged as I said right from the start that alcohol was the reason. Now I had to visit another doctor and he - other

I'm new here & have benefited from your posts
Hello everyone. I've "lurked" on here since my husband was diagnosed with severe liver disease in March 2021. He gave up alcohol the day he was admitted to hospital and I'm so proud of him for sticking with it determinedly. We're 4 months on and he's been through several ascitic drains, feeling terrible

Worried wife,
Husband gets results of CT scan tomorrow, has anyone on here had the jaundice symptoms, yellow skin / eyes, pale poop, even though that has improved a lot. and dark wee, we don’t understand all of this. He has no pain and no other symptoms. 🥲

Do my eyes still look jaundiced?
On the 21st of June I was diagnosed with Acute Liver Failure, I'm 23. Bilirubin was at a 12.1, AST 591, ALT 1103. Only symptom I had was Jaundice. I was released after 2 days because I wasn't getting any worse and they told me to give my liver time to heal itself. My eyes before this were completely

Fibrosis / ILD caused by Lupus
My wife and I visited the respiratory consultant on Wednesday. We were told that the CT scan of her lungs taken in 2018 showed a significant problem. The images of the lungs were grey when they should be black. She has been breathless for a number of years now but getting significantly worse. At last

I have been on them for 2 yrs and my ascites have never returned but now I'm frightened constantly checking my ankles legs and weight. My liver is doing OK and I'm now well Compensated. Has anyone got any positive

Letter from Hep Consultant PBC
Hi received my letter from the consultant - Primary Biliary Cirrosis! instead of Primary Biliary Cholangitis. I was horrified to find the name changed in 2016 and not sure I have much faith in his approach. At no point does it mention Cholangitis, I have a Fib4 score of 5.34 no idea what that means.
