Good morning to you all, I feel a little anxious today and hope you don’t mind me posting again, as some of you may remember I was diagnosed with severe fatty liver on an ultrasound, one dr did a calculation online line ruling out advanced cirrhosis, the second dr did a different calculation showing

Platelets and Enlarged Red Blood Cells
Recently diagnosed cirrhosis but yet to see consultant so I don't know if I am compensated or not. I've been brought forward to see hepatologist from mid April to next Monday due to a cancellation. I've had full liver profile of bloods. According to my GP everything was normal apart from low platelets

Hi All - Gynecomastia
Hi everyone, so a bit of background from me. 40 year old male, always been a social drinker until covid hit then I started drinking a bit more. Just before covid in 2019 I went to the docs as I generally felt rubbish, tired and some abdominal pain and had full blood panels inc LFTs and all was clear.

Fibroscan and ultrasound
Hi friends Haven’t posted for a long time and thought I’d feed back on my recent experiences of ultrasound and fibroscans - two of them because the first wasn’t accurate - in case this is of interest. Also a more philosophical bit at the end. My US was reported as ‘slightly coarse echo texture’ which

My son was diagnosed with Biliria Artresia at first month after birth. He underwent Kasai procedure at 2nd month. After that his stools are normal and bilirubin is under control. But recently he passed black stools and sometimes blood in the stool. His bilirubin is 0.4 and SGPT is 108 and SGOT is 84.

Advice Appreciated
Hi all, it 3 weeks since I came off Spironolactone as my liver specialist asked me to do so as after 6 month checks they believed my results showed I was in a good enough place to do so. I’ve gained 8 pounds in 3 weeks which from what I can see online isn’t classed as rapid but the last few days I’ve

4 months post transplant
Is been at least 4 months post liver transplant. I would like to know from patients with experience how long it'll take for me to stop getting tired easily and still shaky sometimes? I also have on and off severe headaches and my appetite is the worse.....

Doxazosin
I was diagnosed with compensated cirrhosis in 2017. Today I was prescribed Doxazosin, an alpha blocker, for palpitations and hypertension. This is supplementary to the Irbesartan and Felodipine I've been on for many years. But I'm not happy with the leaflet on the medication, which lists liver problems

Stage 4 Cirrhosis can be compensated?
My husband was diagnosed with Cirrhosis via liver biopsy. He is 65 years old. The liver specialist says the biopsy indicates Stage 4 cirrhosis. His fibrosis was also stage 4. But liver specialist also says his liver is compensated? How can this be? He has been prescribed lactulose, spirolactone

BUN/creatinine
I saw that my BUN level was low . At what stage of cirrhosis would cause a low BUN? And BUN/creatinine ratio? I’m hoping it’s just low from being well hydrated but I read liver cirrhosis can also be a cause and I had a few other numbers low or high.

hepatitis to cirrhosis
Is it possible for an alcoholic to progress to cirrhosis without ever having alcoholic hepatitis? What are the chances of someone who heavily drinks to get cirrhosis without warning signs before it gets to that point?

Compensated or Decompensated
I was diagnosed in May 2019 with Cirrhosis and my Hepatologist told me it was Compensated and I would be monitored in the liver clinic every 6 months (the pandemic put paid to that plan). I've subsequently had two endoscopies which show six varices, one of which shows some evidence of past bleeding.

Vitamin D - daily dose?

With general vitamin supplement and cod liver oil in winter months I take 10 microg of Vit D. I would be interested to hear how much anyone else
