Covid booster prednisolone dose criterion - NHS
Update to post below: Thanks firstly to all who responded illustrating the inconsistency in Covid booster policy. Anyhow, after being refused a booster by my GP practice, I received an NHS text asking me to come in for a booster as I “may” meet the criteria … again to be assessed when presenting myself

My GP - x-ray
My thumb got caught in the boot door on Easter Monday. Long story. Lots of blood etc. Waited until the wounds have more or less healed and went to doctor’s surgery with photo and short explanation which I gave to the receptionist. The thumb from top joint up is now distinctly sideways. Receptionist

sudden Bronchiectasis exacerbation.
I was diagnosed with bronchiectasis about 5 years ago and have been on daily azithromycin tablets 250mcg which have been a life changer after getting chest infections on a monthly basis and basically living as an invalid for years. I felt stronger and more confident. Apart from a few colds and a flu

I was diagnosed with cellulitis 5 or 6 weeks ago, I’ve had 2 lots of antibiotics, 2 scans to make sure no blood clots, this redness has spread around my leg and is now starting in the other one. Air travel for the first time in over 3 years - stress and adrenals
So I haven't seen my elderly mother in person in 3.5 years. Before covid, we would see each other at least every few months, if not more often. When I last visited her, it was during Covid, but I drove to see her, which is a 16-18 hr drive (done over 2 days, which I did on my own). This was a few months

Update - prednisone taper and Covid Booster
In the past few weeks, while finishing my DSNS taper from 5 to 4.5 mg, I've noticed some of the original PMR symptoms I had - painful neck and a pulsing in my head to the beat of my heart. When I went to a GP within a week of getting these symptoms back in January 2021, they ruled out having a tumour

38 weeks planned c section - Steroid injection?
I’m currently 34+1 with our IVF miracle and having a planned c section at 38 weeks (had complicated emergency c section with first child) but they’ve said they offer an optional steroid injection if you deliver planned before 39 weeks which can apparently help with breathing for baby IF they have fluid

Pneumonia in CBD
Hi I’ve just found out my mum is in hospital with pneumonia and I’m on holiday in Australia - I’m looking for flights and trying to get home asap. Has anyone had experience of getting this when you already have CBD or has anyone had a loved one who has had pneumonia before? I know it’s not a great thing

Post covid comeback
It's been three weeks since I posted about struggling post possible covid. The last three weeks have been frustrating, lots of having to stop and walk and wondering if I could get back to how I was before. However, yesterday I started off and for the first time in weeks I had no tightness in my chest

Varicocele treatment - surgery or embolisation?
Hello all! So we're currently have ICSI due to unexplained infertility, with possible mild male factor due to borderline-low motility and morphology. Failed First Round ICSI - no blastocysts - NHS wants to put us back on the waiting list. 39years old. Want to try again next month
39, Just had a consultation with Dr after failed first NHS IVF round. No blastocysts. We were contacted out of the blue and our IVF started earlier than we expected (We were given a start of March 2024 as a guide to start) Our appointment was brought forward due to our age and AMH. CEA Fluctuations
My husband has just completed his 3rd cycle of Carboplatin and Etoposide for prostate cancer liver mets. Before the first cycle his CEA was 38 (should be <5) This number is being used as baseline. After 1st cycle it was 30.3 but after his 2nd cycle it rose to 32.7. Is it normal for CEA to fluctuate
