Head cuts not healing, tips?
A minor irritation I know but I have a cut on my scalp that clots but will not heal up. Every time I accidentally knock the scab it bleeds again. Tried paraffin based cream, emollient cream (contains almond oil and lanolin). Also tea tree oil. Also taking folic acid, no joy. As I say minor irritation

Follicultis on legs
Hello I’ve had folliculitis on my legs for over a year now. GP has prescribed emollient creams which have not helped. A few months ago I was prescribing flufloxacilla for a wound infection and I noticed that the appearance of my legs had improved a bit. I have asked my gp to prescribe a course of antibiotics

Chronic ezcema on soles of feet
Hi, Does anyone have any advice for anything else that I should be trying or avoiding to try to help deal with my chronic ezcema. About 2 years ago I had a small patch of dry skin on the sole of my right foot. I just put moisturiser on it regularly thinking it would just clear up. But it never did and

Markers for CLL progression
My haematologist has given me no information about my CLL since he told me I have it three years ago. Other than the WBC (white blood cell count), [which has been jumping up in large increments since February 2017], I do not know which other markers I should be looking for which are indicative of the

Eczema and Hypothyroidism
Hi I have recently developed an Eczema type itchy rash, mainly on my hands, arms and creases in my neck. Does anyone find it is connected with their hypothyroidism and their thyroid levels. Mine has come on since my T3 level has dropped. If so can someone advise on what creams, washes etc. have helped

Possible milk allergy?
I used the usual steroid cream and
emollients
, the eczema got better and itching went away for almost a week. Last night it flared up again, the itching was really bad this time and scabby wet patches appeared on my scalp again.

Eczema Assistance Required
One prescribing steroid cream and one prescribing a gentler approach using lifestyle changes
emollients
and gentle soap. I have chosen the gentler approach as I don't like the idea of steroid cream on my skin. I would be interested in hearing from those inthis Group who have cleared up eczema.

Protecting clothing and bedding from emollients
I don't think it's fair on my washing machine to deal with grease-saturated clothing, so I've been sleeping in old trousers (my lymphoedema and use of
emollients
affects my legs) and then disposing of them, but not before staining my mattress.

How do you look when hypothyroid
I posted recently and got some really good advice - all of which I am motivated to act on. I have been reading some past posts by others and in one post it mentioned "looking hypothyroid". I know age is a big factor and I am about to hit 50 but as I posted I had my dose reduced 12 months ago and replies

Emollients - Epimax instead of Diprobase
I asked my GP for some more Diprobase, but was refused as my NHS area's formulary no longer lists it. I remembered a nurse using Fifty:50 so asked for that, and it was allowed. The formulary now lists Epimax as the first choice alternative to Aproderm, Aqueous cream, Aquamax, Diprobase cream, E45 cream

Podiatry
Reference podiatrists and hard skin, I am lucky enough to have treatment on the NHS at my local hospital (I live in N Yorkshire) they do wonderful work, clip my nails get rid of as much of the hard skin as they can, they also do a pulse test to check circulation. At my last visit I had half of my right

New here! Hi everyone!
Hi! I've had dry skin from childhood. A few years ago it got worse, probably due to frequent handwashing (comes with working with food). I got emollient cream from the doctor, which keeps that clear most of the time, although it does flare up from time to time. Also have psoriasis on my scalp. Very recently

How I soothed and cured my Eczema
I think one of the problems with using
emollients
is that they may sooth but they do not HEAL, which is what you want when you have a skin condition such as Eczema.

How do you manage your psoriasis?
My dermy obliged and what I got involved a nightly bath with Aveeno oil in the water, application of 3 different steroid creams, then, after a 15 minute wait for the steroid to be absorbed, an all over application of
emollients
. I did a double take at that!

I was told I would grow out of it so many of the GP's and doctors I saw never took me very seriously when I was young as they just saw me as a guinea pig to try different steroid creams and

Severe flare ups
My other half & my 3 year old daughter both suffer with eczema. I have been with my partner for 12 years and at the moment I am seeing him go through the longest & worst flare up since we've been together. His usual patches are front of neck, inner arms, behind knees and he always has to moisturise

For the Record
When we watch athletes competing in the Olympic Games, we rarely see the years of dedicated training they endure. To prepare for this elite sports event, athletes must sometimes push their bodies past ordinary limits to achieve their athletic goals. Jackie Joyner-Kersee is one of these athletes. And

Now on steroid cream and lots of
emollients
. It's on my face/eyelids and arms and is driving me to distraction with the itching and burning. I am losing weight steadily though. 😕
