Meds risks
Hi I've just got home from work and sat reading the paper. I turn to the health section and there's an article about NSAID'S causing more stomach damage than originally thought .And there in the warning box is Naproxen which my consultant has just doubled ! Great. How do you weigh up benefits of drugs

33 years and counting....My first blog.
33 years ago this month I went to my GP with a swollen knee that kept giving way, I was 10 years old. By November I had had a biopsy and the diagnosis came back of Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis of the Rheumatoid type. 33 years later I have the same diagnosis but have added a few more labels

MTX and Arava?
Are any of you taking both Methotrexate and Arava? I was on this combo for several years, since Arava first became available, until a year ago when Arava was not available for 6 months. Have no idea what that was about. I know I was better, stronger, willing to be more active than I am now

Re Lyme's Disease
Hi All - I write this in shock because my cousin who lives in France with her partner and young family has just emailed to tell me that she's just been diagnosed with Lyme's Disease. She is an actress/ performer, lives in rural France and runs a circus with her partner and 2 young kids so this must be

Ibuprofen with MTX?
As some of you know I've just started on MTX. My GP put a repeat prescription for Ibuprofen in with the MTX and folic acid. In the pamphlet it says care should be taken with NSAIDs so I'm not sure whether to just keep on taking 3x 400mg per day with meals as directed, or whether I should just take them

Sulfasalazine - to have NOT
For the past 6-7 weeks I have been getting headaches, loss of concentration, sweats, tight chest, irritating cough and an awful colour to my skin. Well I had a problem with pred and had to come off it, the main side effects of that subsided as I came off it (never again to go on it!) but all the above

Just out of Curiosity, what age did you feel you started with Lupus signs and symptoms? Age of diagnosis?
How long have you lived with the illness? Does the condition, with management gHowet easier as you get older?, (women - post menopause) - is this in remission? I will go first! I think that my Sjorgren's Syndrome, (and possibly Lupus SLE - but not 100% sure on this auto immune disorder), commenced

Cortizone Shots...Good Times!
I am fairly new to this site, I thought this would be a perfect place to ask who out there is maybe in the same place as I am. I have R.A., and have been on disibility for about a year. I have tried Enbrel, Humera, Remicade, Orencia, methotrexate, & Arava. I am now on Cimzia with Arava. I really can't

What Happens With RA, Without Necessaary Treatment:
Last Friday, I went to see the Hand Specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery, in Cleveland, referred by my Rheumatologist. As I wrote after that visit, I was very impressed by this highly regarded Physician and his obvious expertise and knowledge. So I agreed to allow him to fix my right wrist, which

Good Afternoon Everyone, I recently read a report on another site about the effectiveness of a daily dose of 75mgs of aspirin which prevents the spread of cancer cells in the lymphatic system.I described this in another forum and was asked by my online friend

What are the risks to me (on anti-TNF + Methotrexate) of being exposed to shingles?
I've heard people in the day-care unit talking about getting shingles and how its disrupted their treatment. Now an old friend is coming back to the UK for a short holiday and I'd love to see her, but she says she's had shingles. Before I say anything, what do we know about shingles and how it can be

My experience of anti-tnf
Anti-TNF experience I’ve been on one anti-tnf for the past ten years. Its infliximab, but there are other more recent ones, but I think the procedure is more or less the same for each one. I also take 20mg methoxitrate weekly. And I should say that I’m not medically qualified in any way, this blog

So what do doctors know.....
about viral meningitis. Well as it happens in my experience not a great deal. I contracted it in July 2002 (July 13th as it happens, sort of stuck in my brain if you see what I mean) and was seriously ill in hospital with the sort of stats that make nurses take a sharp intake of breath. My eldest daughter
