Why don't Doctors recognise the chronic after effects of Meningitis?
Hi Everyone. So I'm sat watching the news and they are talking about the effects of 'Long Covid'. Doctors are actually recognising the chronic symptoms patients are experiencing and planning how to improve their care. Covid has been around how long? How about Doctors listening to the Chronic symptoms

It is not Sunday - but I thought I would update you on my diet experiment
So, I went all out vegan on Sunday, I also stopped all oils including the Omega 3 red krill oil I have been taking for a couple of years, and other than a multivitamin and CalcD supplement stopped all other additions. Last Thursday, my Metoject Mtx dose went up slightly from 15ml to 17.5ml. On Sunday

Has anyone had meningitis more than once? How do you cope?
Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had meningitis more than once? I had meningococcal disease when I was 4 years old and lost most of my hearing in my left ear . I also had it when I was 9 years old due to having the vaccine, this form was viral meningitis but I was still hospitalised. I also lost my

The enemy is chronic inflammation. Anti-inflammatory foods -- and herbs that reduce inflammation. (I don't think NSAIDs are good for us.)

Gabapentin stopped working
Gabapentin? I have taken this for about two years' 3 x 300mg a day and it had alleviated the horrible pain somewhat. I have gained about a stone in weight and I am bloated all of the time. Also I find it difficult to urinate. However, the drug now seems to have lost a lot of it's efficacy and I am

Results:Ibuprofen was significantly more effective against human prostate cancer cells in vitro than the other tested nonprescription NSAID
"MTT analysis indicated that clinically relevant concentrations of ibuprofen significantly reduced the survival of LNCaP human prostate tumor cells. TUNEL analysis demonstrated that this was due in part to a significant number of LNCaP cells undergoing apoptosis. Ibuprofen also induced the same amount

Knee pain, would a knee brace help?
Hi, I'm new - to the community although not to OA. Since the covid lockdown changed my activity patterns I've developed an extremely painful right knee. Have had OA diagnosis since I was 40, now 73, and until this time I kept problems well at bay. Have been on prednisone for five years for polymyalgia

Any studies on longterm effects of live shingles vaccine and PMR
I was wondering if anyone knows of any studies that have been done about those of us that contracted PMR after taking the live shingles vaccine. I wonder if PMR will last as long in our system as the shingles vaccine antibodies are active in our system? The pharmacist says the antibodies last 5+years

Bad nails
Does anyone have problems with their nails? The white part of the nails are getting bigger where the nail is not attached to my finger. The nails are also very thin and brittle so I can’t grow them long I just have to hide it with nail varnish as they look awful.

Viral meningitis last month
Last month, July 2020, I was diagnosed with viral meningitis after being misdiagnosed with covid (by two different md). So it went on for about 11 days before being diagnosed at the tail end of it. Now, a month later I am still having grogginess and eye spots, major fatigue. Several other lingering symptoms

Protective role of ibuprofen.
Taking ibuprofen or aspirin lowered the risk of penetrance of the mutation in the LRRK2 gene, prompting less risk of developing Parkinson's disease. The study suggests that nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs could be a modifiable determinant of LRRK2 penetrance. https://journals.lww.com/neurotodayonline
