Dialysis Ports exhausted
My husband has been on
dialysis
for over 5 years since he was 45 years old. He has had about 8 failed ports and about 10-12 different catheters installed. He just received the Hero graft port last week and it has already stopped working. The surgeon said there is nothing else he can do.

Hi Kidney Patients!
I've tried peritoneal
dialysis
but it did not work for me--either physically or emotionally. I like being able to leave my disease at the
dialysis
clinic and live a relatively normal life otherwise. :)

Annoying cough
I have obliterative bronchiolitis and I'm on
dialysis
. For the past 3 weeks I've had a cough and recently my appetite hasn't been good. Had a chest xray which came back clear. Got blood tests done and there is no infection, just low in phosphate because I'm not eating so good.

My latest life happenings.
So now I have to face
dialysis
on my own. With God's help, I know I can. I need your prayers and good thoughts. I am totally stressed out and soooo tired.

Praying for a miracle
Now he has other serious issue with his blood pressure because of the stress of going to
dialysis
. Due to this they took both of his kidneys out in February. Didn't help like they had hoped. He is now on
dialysis
6 days a week and his quality of life is non existent..

Declining GFR
My doctor is waiting for me to tell him it's time to start
dialysis
. I work full time and I am wondering what the recovery time is when you have the peritoneal port put in? I have my bad days, but so far, I am hanging on.

Started
dialysis
when I was 12 had my first kidney transplant at 13. I have had a total of 4 kidney transplants and have been on
dialysis
before and after all my kidney transplants. 2 cadavers and 2 family members. My life and my health is complicated. But I feel blessed.

"The goal, whenever possible, is to avoid dialysis completely. ...
"When this is not possible, the goal is to shorten the time on
dialysis
. As a transplant candidate, it is not in your best interest to not make getting your transplant a priority. The longer you wait, the greater the risk of losing a transplant eligibility."

Scared of my dialysis center
Been doing
dialysis
for almost two years. I do real good with it. But where i go is horrid. The techs are brutal mean. I have bruises in my legs where they rammed me with chairs and I have been bruised for months.

Dad has stage 5 CKD
My Dad has chronic nephritis and now he is down to only 14% function which puts him at stage 5 :( The Dr is not suggesting
dialysis
, my dad is 86 and has not really asked why it's not being offered.

Wondering about Social Life in HD Centers
I am 64-year-old man with a long history of dealing with CKD and
dialysis
. I started doing peritoneal
dialysis
in 2005 and continued until I got a transplant in 2009. I think I was probably lucky that I didn't have to wait longer.

Yes, there is such a thing as a "living donor".
There are so many questions to be asked and answered regarding kidney disease,
dialysis
& donating. Check out the link below for some info on increasing living donors! https://transplantfirst.org/increasing-living-kidney-donor-transplants/
