living emotionally and mentally with afib
I am 82 and have had paroxysmal afib for2+ yrs. I have always been terrified by an attack or waiting for one. They gradually increased to the point that I had cryoablation last September. That helped in that they are more mild and less common. Lately they have been increasing in frequency so I am

Update two weeks after being told I had heart failure by my GP following a routine echocardiogram. Appointment this morning with private cardiologist went well but unfortunately the last echocardiogram I had 1-2 months ago was correct. I arrived at the the appointment with a copy of my most recent

Afib and bradicardia
Thanks for much for everyone's help on the low heart rate. Yesterday I was Rushed to hospital by ambulance because my heart rate was so low I'm still in hospital now on a ECG machine and it keeps going really low and it's super high and all the alarms going up.

Dear all some advice please I had a cryo ablation three years ago and really good result. In the last few months I am having lots of ectopic beats. Makes me uncomfortable and now dizzy. 7 day monitoring days pvc’s. ECG doesn’t usually capture them. Gp write to cardiology and they said go back on Verapamil

ICD since 2016
Hi everyone, I am new to this group, it seems to be a nice place! I am a professional that moved to the UK since December 2019, and I have and ICD implanted since August 2016. My question that I would like to ask, I maybe rather seeking for advice... is... I can't really talk about it on a job interview

Atrial Fibrillation in Athletes
Athletes with Atrial Fibrillation, or who are worried about developing it, may be interested in this vid (just out) where two very fit cyclists visited Glenfield Hospital in Leicester (where the British Heart Foundation have a MRI Facility) and get tested. There is then a good discussion on Atrial Fibrillation

Living with someone with Cirrhosis it's hard but must stay optimistic!
A Long story short (difficult) in February 22 I came home to my husband yellow and barely breathing but conscious. Ambulance took him to hospital and he had to be resuscitated twice as his heart stopped before being put on a ventilator he had erupted varices in oesophagus(he'd been losing blood both

A Correction
A few weeks ago I mentioned that Dr Ohtsuka will be a panellist in an online (Zoom) discussion about AFib and the mini-maze procedure. The WO-MM (Wolf-Ohtsuka Mini Maze) is an adaptation of the Wolf Mini Mazem as performed at the NewHeart Watanabe hospital in Tokyo. Dr Wolf, who is a surgeon at Debakey

Slow irregular heartbeat?
Was diagnosed with arrhythmia last autumn, currently on edoxaban, flecanide and bisoprolol. About 20 hours ago my heart started beating irregularly, it is still slow (about 50 bpm) and seems to be missing a beat every 3/4 beats. NHS111 yesterday advised going to A&E where they did ECG and blood

Migraine on tapering
Just a quick question - I began DL's slow taper from 9mg to 8.5mg on Saturday 18/3/23 and suffered a migraine aura so took a sumatriptans tablet. Gradually recovered over the next couple of days. The second reduction to 8.5mg is today (22/3/23) and, again, I have had a migraine aura and taken sumatriptans

Went to see my EP last night and he gave me news I didn't want to hear.I am on sotalol 40mg X3 per day plus apixaban. I have been having episodes about every 4 months but this time I have had 3 episodes, I believe triggered by the covid vaccine and the other time when I was away eating rich food, not

Berberine - does anyone have experience of taking this for PAF?
I’m going to have a pace and ablate in a few weeks time, so I started watching videos about it by the York Cadiologist (great guy!). On one of the videos I tripped across a comment where a chap said he had to stop taking Flecainide because of the adverse side effects (that’s me too!) and had started

Amazing
I just want to say that yesterday was an amazing day. We all have good and bad. My pacemaker was done on the 27th and I have had some good days and not so good. Yesterday I woke up really early and had energy all day. I walked with my dog around our property of almost an acre. A few weeks ago I could

First afib incident since dx 3 years ago
Have been taking Diltiazem 180 mg daily for 3 years without having any tachycardia till now. Days with HR 130-140 bpm. I think that it was caused by the stress due to the severe storm that caused many blowdowns (one on my house) loss of power, internet, and downed phone lines. Lots of worry, shoveling
