why docs don’t want to prescribe opioids for RLS….😔
With all the recent total panic by docs on not prescribing opioids, I thought I would just attach Andy Berkowski’s excellent piece on why we are often being refused opioids now and almost certainly in the future at least for sometime. You may well have read this article before Kakally Andy Berkowski

Will I ever get my son back?
My 5 year old son was diagnosed with ADHD and DMDD. He's angry and mean all the time. He didn't used to be this way; it started developing a few years ago and has gotten worse. We're trying now to find medication, none seem to work so far. He needs behavioral therapy but I can't afford it. He's so smart

Feeling So Frustrated
Hi Everyone.....I'm dealing with severe insomnia that's been going on for at least 6 weeks. I'm taking clonazepam and supplements from my doc, but they don't really help that much. Last week I started an 8 week program on line called "Put Insomnia to Bed." I'm just finishing week 1, which was mostly

Kratom anti-depressant, anti-psychotic, anti-anxiety herb!
I've recently come across an herbal suppliment that has realy helped me. If you research it you'll find that it has some potential for abuse. It effects opioid receptors. Just like opiod meds. For pain you take a large dose. In large doses it also has a sedating effect. That is were the addiction lays

CBT Questions
It's clear that my son could benefit from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. He gets into negative thought spirals and has a negative self-image. I worry about how this will affect him long-term. For those of you who have found CBT therapists for your child, I have four questions: What age did you start,

How to find a good cognitive behavioural therapist?
My tinnitus having got significantly worse recently, I'm keen to try cognitive behavioural therapy but am having trouble identifying a suitable therapist. There appear to be dozens of qualified therapists in my region (north Oxfordshire) but none list tinnitus as something they treat. Any suggestions

ADAA Blog Post - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Tinnitus: Reduce Distress, Improve Functioning, Promote Habituation
US and European clinical guidelines designate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as the only recommended treatment for tinnitus. As an experienced, board-certified, CBT psychologist who has tinnitus, I am heartened by this trend. Read more from Dr. Bruce Hubbard: https://adaa.org/learn-from-us/from-the-experts

HANG IN THERE.
as a severe sufferer just want to let all my people know that you can live with it, hang in there when times are tough. There are ways to cope maybe not right away but over time it must become your friend not your enemy. Living with Tinnitus is a mental game not a physical. You Just have to find what

applying for I’ll health retirement
Hi everyone, this is my first post. I was wondering if anyone has applied for ill health retirement. I have been off sick for over 2 years. I work in the NHS as a nurse. I have been encouraged by HR to apply. I was off sick with Long Covid and was then diagnosed with fibromyalgia in May 2022. I filled

Therapy Fatigue
Can anyone relate? I've been talking with therapists once a week for years. For years now I wake up every day worried about my situation and want to find a way to become self-sufficient. Because of my agoraphobia and panic attacks, I've been unable to work in the only career I can earn a living wage

Struggling to make the best education choices
Hello, My 6-year-old son was diagnosed with ADHD about a year ago. Because of his age, we tried PCIT behavior therapy and while we saw some mild improvements there was no real change. I have homeschooled my son since he was 3. It started off as preschool working on language development in conjunction

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in treating a wide range of health disorders
I started thinking maybe CBT could actually help treat physical illnesses. Maybe I equate CBT with Denial. But I am taking a shot to see if CBT can alter my reality. I found this:

Claustrophobia and CBT
Hi everyone, Could anyone recommend a really good

CBT
) book or any online CBT content/courses related to claustrophobia and MRIs? I need to have a cardiac MRI and I suffer from claustrophobia (which has prevented me from completing standard MRIs in the past).

She doesn’t act that way with me…
I’ve known since my daughter was 2 years old that something was going on, but everyone around me tries to explain it away. It seems like to them having ADHD and sensory processing disorder is the kiss of death and all is lost for her. Why do I have to over explain her symptoms and diagnoses? If I say

Books on Managing a Disability
Hi all. I am a real scatter brain sometimes! Someone wrote a reply post recently mentioning a very interesting book I wanted to read. I mentally noted it and decided to come back to take details, but I was distracted by a long phone call. I forgot to take details and now can't find it anywhere!!!!

In this webinar, ADAA member Andrew Rosen, PhD, ABPP, FAACP, goes over the differences of medication and therapy. Some questions include: What are the roles of medication and therapy? How can my psychiatrist (or primary care doctor) and my therapist work together as a team? How soon can I expect to
