Hi all I’ve been posting and following for a few months now after many years of symptoms (see prior posts) and a family history of autoimmune and thyroid issues. I saw a new gp last week and explained my concerns. He said I presented as hypo and wanted to do further tests which seemed positive. My results

Formerly graves before RAI treatment turns hashimotos
I finally got a TSI antibodies test after getting the RAI treatment 8 years ago. I was hyperthyroid and my endo thought it was Graves. I dont believe I was ever given this test nor had a scan of my thyroid. I had stayed hyper until 3 years ago and then became “normal” for a year. 1 later (2 years ago

Got my TSI blood test results back
It says 20.50 H and the range is <0.55 I think this is enough proof to show that I previously had graves. I am really thankful that its not over 900 like my tpo. I’m not sure what else to do with this information other than be satisfied of having proof. :)

Iodine and selenium testing in Uk- worth the fight?
Hi all, So recently I feel like I may actually be iodine deficient and because of hashimotos I have actively been avoiding it in supplements and my diet is prob low in it too. I always crave fish and seafood and wonder if this is more a biological craving for iodine possibly. I’ve also been supplementing

Just ordered t3. Starting dose advice please?
Hi, Have finally given up hope of getting helped by professionals. Having spent near £600 over the last 3 months seeing someone from the thyroid UK recommended list + blood tests to avoid the 5 month nhs wait. Still symptomatic. Feeling slightly worse since latest t4 increase. So I've ordered some t3

Endocrinologist referral but what next?
I felt hopeful when my doctor suggested referral to endo as I have revisited GP regularly with hypothyroid symptoms persisting, despite levothyroxine dose 75mcg since Sept 17 (first diagnosed, May 2016 on 50mcg). Mainly weight gain, tiredness, short of breath, low mood and brain fog. I have been on B12

There is also a history of diabetes, heart disease and stroke in the family, too. I have had a goitre on and off and this has affected my swallowing though I still manage to eat relatively

Newly diagnosed Hashimoto
Hi all, I have just been diagnosed with Hashimoto ‘s thyroid disease. I am fortunate to have no symptoms but found a lump on my thyroid. As I have a sister with the disease and my other sister is type 1 diabetic it seemed an obvious diagnosis. My free t4 is 16.4 g(12.0-22.0), tsh (1.42(0.27-4.2) and

Hi. Could anyone please advise. I was diagnosed hypothyroid in 2011 and I also have a 10 year history of anxiety which is being treated with fluoxetine. Thyroid results in December 2017 showed a Free T3 result "only just" in range as stated by my GP who says T3 would benefit me. TSH has been suppressed

Dilemma with my endo
Hello. This is my first post. I was diagnosed with primary hypothyroidism in May 2013. As the months went by I found myself up to 125 micro grams of Levothyroxine. I felt no better on the 125. I went through a very long spell of depression and I was feeling too depressed to look after myself. My parents

Mixed feelings about appointment

GP agreed to trying me on 75mcg levothyroxine on a trial basis which is good, and wants me in next week for bloods to check T3

T3 or not T3 and dealing with GP
Hello again. In my last post about my latest results greygoose pointed out that my TSH / FT4 / FT3 results suggested that I wasn't converting very well now and that I needed to introduce T3. I was going to go along the self-treating route but I'll be honest I can't stand any potential confrontation

Genes dictate your TSH levels, some polymorphisms being higher
I had thyroid genetics test done a few months ago by Blue Horizon, I think thy actually covered more than the Regenerus Lab and also don't charge for, or provide counselling, however my questions were answered in detail by their expert who was really helpful. Genetically I lack "optimal" conversion for

Posting for a sick friend
A friend (aged 44) has been unwell for quite a while and I would be grateful if you could look at her blood test results and see what you think. I have directed her to the thyroid 'symptom list' and she says she feels like she has quite a lot of them, in particular weight gain, VERY heavy periods, extreme

OK, so having started at a new GP and getting my bloods done (results to follow, all i was told over the phone was TSH 2.2 and TPO either 117 or 170 - it wasn't a very clear line) my GP has asked me to come in for a general check up prior to attempting to refer me to an endo/get advice from an endo regarding
