Chloroquine
and Hydroxychloroquine: These drugs, traditionally used to treat malaria, have been investigated for their autophagy-modulating properties. They inhibit the later stages of autophagy and are being studied in various diseases, including cancer.

controlling temperature
I’ve had no change of drugs and am on prednisone Methortrexate and
chloroquine
. My feet are always cold but my body is often sweating. It’s almost that my thermostat has broken! Welcome any advice.

Biological drugs in addition to MTX?
I am on MTX and Hydro
chloroquine
was introduced about 5 years ago.But it was withdrawn for unknown reason just before Covid. Nothing was reviewed as planned. I havr distorted right toes due to RA and they were inflamed. I had an ultrasound aided steroid injection which is helping temporarily.

PGE1, PGA1, Amodiaquine (AQ), Chloroquine (CQ), 5,6-Dihydroxyindole (DHI), Nurr1 and slowing progression
(This started as a post on PGE1 and PGA2, but then I found AQ, CQ, and DHI might do the same thing so I have changed the title) It has been 2 years since this was posted in HU: https://healthunlocked.com/cure-parkinsons/posts/143562876/2-compounds-show-ability-to-protect-neurons-raise-dopamine-levels

Serotonin Makes Tumors Happy Too
I just checked some older studies and it appears that
chloroquine
is a competitive inhibitor of serotonin uptake by platelets.

Pulmonary Fibrosis and loss of muscle mass
I see that
chloroquine
makes you lose muscle mass. Has anyone had this problem? I still have a fairly good appetite. I am just much more breathless as I also have Pulmonary Hypertension. I am on water tablets for that. Would like to hear if anyone here has a similar experience.

Pharmacological significance of extra-oral taste receptors
In fact, substances such as dextromethorphan,
chloroquine
, methimazole and probably glimepiride, being agonists of TAS2Rs, lead to these effects. TAS2Rs and taste 1 receptors (TAS1R2/3) are G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR).

Hydroxychloroquine
Chloroquine
increased expression of stearoyl-CoA desaturase-1 (scd1), the enzyme mediating fatty acid saturation status, suggesting that a shift toward monounsaturated fatty acids relieved toxicity. In human ALD fibroblasts,
chloroquine
also increased SCD1 levels and reduced saturated VLCFAs.

How do you guys manage a flare up?
Has been in remission for the last 6 months - on baricitinib,
chloroquine
and methotrexate but I’m starting a flare now. My question is - how do other people manage a flare? Do you wait for it to get bad, hoping it will settle- if next appointment is months away?

Why do I have Extreme skin flushing and sweating. Have ET.
I was put on methotrexate and hydro
chloroquine
. This was 2014. In 2016 another Dr took X-rays and did labs and was adamant that I did not have Rheumatoid. I was fed up! Finally, last October I was correctly diagnosed.
