Ablation Success
I would be interested to know what the overall success rate is for ablation procedures for Atrial Fibrillation. I see many posts on here where the outcome has (long or short term) been unsuccessful. Here I go again
Although not a newbie, this is my 1st post. following cardioversions and ablations, I sincerely thought I was cured, until a year after my 3rd ablation, AF came back to me. I contacted my GP, who gave me an ECG, heart-rate 130, she then contacted local Cardiac Unit requesting portable ECG monitoring

Introduction post for Permanent AF 41yr old male - asking for advice on dealing with symptoms after abalation
Thought I would give a quick introduction of myself, I'm a 41 yr old male with Permanent AF diagnosed in Nov 2015, I've since had
Cardioversion
which lasted two weeks and opted for PAF ablation back on June 7th and all seems to be going fairly well.

Flipping back after cardioversion
I had
cardioversion
3 weeks ago and everything was going ok. Was feeling better than I had for ages. One night, about a week ago, one of my neighbours decided it would be a good idea to start burning some rubbish in his garden. It was about 1 am when an very loud bang woke me up.

The long view with AF
I am 77 live alone and have been in permanent af since at least 2008 when I had a single
cardioversion
that lasted about six days. I had a single bypass and tissue aortic valve replacement a year ago. The operation was very successful but I remain in permanent af as previously.

Advice about the newer anticoagulation drugs
The Pacing Clinic altered my pacemaker and it seemed to resolve itself but my Cardiologist said if the issues continued then I would have to have
Cardioversion
, I wasn't happy with that so he started me on Beta-blockers.

Ablation tomorrow
It is now 2 years since the last time this remedy failed and since I last had a
cardioversion
. Unfortunately this time the extra Flecanide was a failure and I am still in AF. I have tried all the relaxation and breathing routines also without success.

Atrial Flutter
Successful
Cardioversion
last week. Resting hb 49. Still get out of breath and feel fatigued. Waiting for appointment for ablation. I fully understand that flutter is much less serious than afib but still worrying.

On a lighter note...
He confirmed that I have AF & Flutter and the best route for me would be a
cardioversion
plus careful management of meds. He answered loads of questions for me - many I'd prepared after trawling the forum.

Taking Antibiotics with Warfarin and Atenolol
Last Wednesday, I saw a new Cardiologist who said I'm at high risk of stroke, and he immediately put me on a beta-blocker (Atenolol) and has me in line for
Cardioversion
. The AF support group has been wonderful and helped me to cope with the shock and depression.

Cardioversion VS DVT clot.
Has anyone had a
cardioversion
or know any reason why I can't have one whilst still having a DVT clot?

Brief Return to AF
Presented at A&E and they consulted my ep/cardiologist, who insisted on a
cardioversion
. This took place within the hour and heart reverted to 65bpm and has remained stable since.

48 hrs post Cryo-ablation
I have just had a cryo-ablation done by Dr Sahu (Sheffield) and all has gone well so far, but time will tell. I have had PAF for about 7 years, getting around one episode lasting 2/3 days every month. Last year things got worse and I went persistent for a period of 3 months and had 2 cardioversions.

Is NSR a bad sign?
It sounds like a ridiculous question but I had a
cardioversion
which lasted perfectly for 10 months ( just like now) before my ablation and then just woke up one day back in AF and I still worry that this might happen again.
