90% paralysed from the waist down when OFF the influence of L-Dopa. Does anyone share these symptoms ?
While getting up in the morning, with virtually no L-Dopa “coverage” I’m practically incapable of walking the 3 meters that separates the bed from the bathroom. The legs will simply not obey. Also during the day, if I fail to take my next dose in time, within minutes my forward motion is almost impossible

Avoid levodopa phobia
I was reading Simon’s latest article about the PD drug development pipeline, which is a good read anyway - https://scienceofparkinsons.com/2020/12/02/drug-pipeline/ - and watched this video from Dr Kelly Mills of Johns Hopkins University about disease-modifying vs symptomatic therapy - https://youtu.be

"Alternative" treatments are not harmless when whey cost you quality of life
It's common to read on this forum that alternatives are harmless and have no side effects. But what about when a PWP eschews traditional treatment in favour of an alternative, and their quality of life suffers as a result? All we have is the immediate future. Today. Probably tomorrow. Maybe the day

Tomatoes engineered to produce vital Parkinson’s disease medicine
https://newatlas.com/science/tomatoes-engineered-parkinsons-disease-levodopa/ The part of this article I find most interesting is this, for the deniers... Alongside presenting a novel mode of manufacturing, the study hypothesizes this naturally produced form of the molecule may help reduce the adverse

Phase 2b Trial of Prasinezumab in Patients With Early Parkinson’s Expected by 2021
Note:. Prior apologies if someone has already posted it. I am posting this as this is one of the main pipeline item in the ongoing PD trials. Failure or success of future therapies will greatly depend upon the results of this trial. Roche, in partnership with Prothena, will launch a Phase 2b clinical

Has anyone information about ND0612, a levodopa-carbidopa solution that is administered subcutaneously
Does anyone have infomations, when ND0612 will be approved EU or USA. This is one of the liquid Dopa solutions which will be the next advance in therapy. There are three or four substances in the pipeline (ABBV-951 by abbevie, Infudopa SubC™ by Dizlin ), but Nd 0612 seemed to be the first one of these

My Basic "Understanding" of PD Has Been Wrong
Maybe that's why the "gold standard" for treatment (
Levodopa
Carbidopa
) has not changed for fifty years. Maybe we have all been barking up the wrong tree.

Researchers have devised a way to upcycle waste into the Parkinson’s disease drug L-DOPA
Associate professor Yan Ning and assistant professor Zhou Kang from NUS Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering led the team that devised a method to turn shells from prawns and crabs into L-DOPA, a common drug for treating Parkinson’s disease. A similar method can convert wood waste to proline, which

Home Test with L-Dopa?
Hey Folks, I am suspecting Parkinsons (Have the cogwheel rigidity) and I ordered some L-Dopa. Would this work without the Decarboxylase Inhibitor? If not, is there something else I can add to see if it improves symptoms? I am in lively contact with doctors and visiting one soon, but I would like answers

Heart racing and Mucuna
Good morning all! I was looking up reasons as to why my heart races after I take even an eighth of a teaspoon of l-dopa powder which is actually Mucuna. I usually take 3 1/8 of a teaspoon of L tyrosine powder because a lot of the times the Mucuna has a tendency to make me nauseous or vomit. I came across

The Sword of Neuro degeneration Hanging Over Our Heads
The "gold standard " for treatment (
Levodopa
Carbidopa
) is virtually the same now as it was FIFTY years ago. Given our inability to make truly major progress (cure or at least slowing progression), shouldn't we at least consider the possibility that the experts are wrong.

Plant based ALA [alpha-lipoic acid] can weaken COVID-19 infection and maybe even prevent it.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7427590/#!po=9.45946 ALA can increase human defenses against SARS-CoV-2 by increasing intracellular pH. ALA is a potent antioxidant and reduces oxidative stress and inhibits activation of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kB) and can play a vital role in the treatment

Anyone else taking Ongentys?
For the past 6-8 months my levodopa has not been doing the job. My dosage was one 50/200 mg Sinemet ER (Extended Release) and one 25/100 CR (Continuous Release) every three hours. I also was taking two Selegiline 5 mg daily. I was wearing off in 2 hours. If i waited till my next 3 hour dosing time,
