My AF Journey and Statins ?
I started getting palpitations in Jul/Aug 2017 and was diagnosed with af, however it was only occasional ie 2-3 times per year for the next couple of years. Gradually got worse and eventually was getting af attacks every couple of days and last year was put on 1.25 mg of Bisoprolol which I hated, extreme

me too, I want to actually see an autoimmune specialist, I want to understand why my body is attacking itself, I want to be cured not just treated for my symptoms. I am just getting more and more exhausted and I would like to understand the interaction of my 27 medications on my body and on my immune

Scalp itch with statins
I had a ‘subtle stroke’ in May. Prescribed statins for first time even though my cholesterol was over 7. I was diagnosed with PBC about 17 years ago. Always suffered with fatigue not itching. Take statin at night 40 mgs being kept awake by really itchy scalp. Is this due to statin? Is it likely

Statins
Are most RA patients on statins? The rheumatologist has never mentioned them. My GP surgery recently asked me to attend an RA health check . A surprise as they never have done before. He did bloods for cholesterol, diabetes and something else which I can’t remember . Blood pressure, weight etc. Blood

help to understand
I think I’ve asked before that I don’t understand some of the queries here in that I’ve not been informed by GP how or why thyroxine is measured. I’ve just had blood tests then given levo to take. Last year I was out on statins also and I lost 2stone in about 6 weeks, only half stone was intentional

Thyroid Function Results
Hi, even after a year this is all new to me re learning. I have posted before but had challenges accessing my medical records due to my email account being hacked. I am on 75mg of levothyroxine Mon to Fri and 50mg at the weekend. I was on 100mg post total thyroidectomy due to papillary cancer.

More on statins
I've actually been tolerating ADT quite well over the past year but beginning in January I started feeling tightness in chest, low endurance, out of breath, heavy fatigue, attributing all to Xtandi...Then in May I fainted after getting up from the couch so the old lady took me to the ER...I had an emergency

I have been diagnosed with pbc for the past 12 years and taking ursi. Alp slightly above normal but below 200. Prostate Cancer and Statins
My overall cholesterol has recently increased (9.2 mmol/L), although my HDL remains high at 2.88 mmol/L. The jury seems to be out on whether high HDL levels are of benefit in combatting high LDL levels. My GP wants me to go on statins. I had hoped to continue trying to mitigate the high overall and LDL

Plant Sterols for reduction of cholesterol
Not necessarily related to PMR as I have had high cholesterol since I first started having blood tests years ago. My 'good' and 'bad' have always been about the same level. My current GP suggested statins. I declined. She then suggested trying plant sterols. I've ordered a couple pf packs from

Fear over risk of CVD / Heart problems
Hi there, I'm currently very lost in regards to how im feeling both physically and mentally. I thought i'd post this as I'm not getting much luck with GP's or Doctors recently or over the past year. I have long suffered with mental health since I was about 15, I've always been someone who worries about

Can statins be turbocharged?
I’ve regularly swam around 1,500m in a pool before I went pop in June 2019 & as soon as I could after. I love water & the exercise is good for me. On Monday I cooked a dinner which featured nothing new ingredient wise & then went swimming. I clocked my fastest time I can ever recall of 34:30 (37:55

Statins for heart failure
I was diagnosed with heart failure caused by high BP over 20 years ago, but it was mild. 2 years ago, I had surgery for an aortic valve replacement and an ascending aortic aneurysm.. At a recent medication review, one of the GPs in my practice, who I don't particularly trust, from past experiences,

Statins
Hello fellow fighters of CKD. I am now stage 3 again (eGFR 57, Creatinine 91) having managed to climb up to stage 4 and stayed there over the last 4 years through changes in diet and exercise. For the past year I’ve been taking Bisoprolol for palpitations and recently Ramipril for high blood pressure

Hello
Hi everyone, just wanted to thank all the people who helped be make the decision to try statins. So far I’ve had zero side effects. Time will tell of course if they work to lower my cholesterol but I just wanted to say thanks 😊
