Rising PSA along with rectal pain
Take daily 50 mg
bicalutamide
for the last 6 months and 2 Lupron shots. Scheduled for another Lupron on Monday. Unless she decides to go in another direction. My main concern is the rectal pain that also returned. Taking oxycodone for the pain. Thanks, Ralph

It has begun to creep up, was 4.5 at last test so
Bicalutamide
has been withdrawn to see if that has any effect. If not then oncologist has recommended that he starts Xtandi.

Nice to meet you ... to meet you, nice!
I was immediately started on
Bicalutamide
and Tamoxifen. A bone scan in late December shown metastization to the right pelvis. I am being treated at St Luke's Cancer Centre and the proposed next treatment step is zoladex followed by starting chemo.

Update after PET
The PSA dropped from 126 to 75 in 30 gays on
Bicalutamide
(30 days every day) and a 5 Jan Eligard Shot. Not sure how much PSA matters at the moment with the metastatic SITREP.

"Targeting NF-kappa B Signaling by Artesunate Restores Sensitivity of Castrate-Resistant Prostate Cancer Cells to Antiandrogens."
We have shown AS in combination with
bicalutamide
(Bic) attenuates the oncogenic properties of the castrate-resistant (PC3, 22RV1) and androgen-responsive (LNCaP) PCa cells.

hormone refractory PCa, what next?
Within days of seeing a specialist, I was put onto Hormone Therapy (HT), pills first (
bicalutamide
) then 3-monthly jabs of leuprorelin. I quickly began to feel better, no more pain killers, only side effect hot flushes. PSA already down to 6.9. Now the flushes are the only reminder that I have PCa.

Also in 2013 [5]: "Here we found that ADT with the currently used Casodex (
bicalutamide
) and the newly developed MDV3100 (enzalutamide) promoted PCa metastasis via enhancing macrophage infiltration in both in vitro co-culture systems and in vivo mouse models.

Have been on

New here...
His urologist put him on 150mg of
Bicalutamide
immediately (we then learned a few days later at Foxchase Cancer this was old way of thinking and he went to 50mg.) That was the last time we saw that urologist.

Bicalutamide?
J suggested the my next course of action, if my PSA rises to 1.5 or 2.0 would be to start
bicalutamide
. It seems that his theory is to try to milk each treatment for as much time as we can get out of it. Honestly, I don't really hear of anyone being prescribed
bicalutamide
any more. Thoughts?

free Testosterone [fT] & survival.
First-generation non-steroidal anti-androgens, including flutamide and
bicalutamide
, block the androgen receptor, thereby inhibiting intracellular signaling.
