Happy Christmas and... a plea for help regarding gout or something like it?!
I have ET JAK2 negative, and am currently just on low dose aspirin, Bendroflumethiazide (for blood pressure), and
Bezafibrate
(for cholesterol). My Platelets have been around 1100 for a while now.

Normal ALP at last! (urso+bezafibrate)
Last 3 month with URSO+
bezafibrate
. BIg improvements on ALP already after first month, and now after 3 months, ALP is normal. JIPPI! If you want to read more, google on "pbc
bezafibrate
" and you see there are many references. Seems to be normal treatment in Japan since the 80ies.

Increasing cholesterol levels
Hi When i had my last two tests for my levels they had increased despite being
Bezafibrate
medication. I dont eat a lot of red meat, diary or fatty foods. I have FH but never been to a lipid clinic. I am not due to have another test until next month or the beginning of June.

Can some of the pain also be due to statins?
I was on simvastatin 20mg, but was changed initially to
bezafibrate
(because of muscle pain) which was ineffective, then to rosuvastatin about three months ago, soon after this apparent PMR flare. I had PMR, with elevated inflammatory markers, 3-4 years ago.

CRP and ESR within normal limits - increasing symptoms - previous PMR
I was changed from simvastatin to
bezafibrate
at that time in case that was causing the muscle pain, then changed nearly three months ago to rosuvastatin with no improvement. Ann (aka missrat)

How effective is bezafibrate in controlling cholesterol?
I had to come off statins because of muscle pain, and wondered if others have used fibrates and how effective they were?

I am due to have operation on Thursday. I have been taking Beazfibrate since 23 October. Should I be worried.
