Azithromycin might be making a difference
Alfie has had a week and a bit on his new anti bi and strangely it seems to have helped! We've had 2 days with no audible wheeze and his cough seems to be settling. Fingers crossed that it continues for a while. Hopefully it will allow his heart to recover - his last appointment a possible problem

Progress despite everything
My little boy, Alfie (6), has severe asthma. He had 20 emergency admissions before he was 2 which culminated in him being ventilated in picu at st georges hospital, london. Since then he's been on mega high inhaled steroids, (flixotide 850mcg daily), serevent, monteleukast, azithromycin all daily.

Hi, Alfie saw his consultant last fri and a new drug has been added in; azithromycin - he has this 3 days a week. Apparently this is used with children with cf and she hopes that this will mean that eventually we can reduce his dependance on steroids. He's now showing signs that his adrenal gland

What comes next?
I am feeling very anxious right now. My 4 year old daughter had a bronchial lavage and a bronchoscopy this past week. This is her second one. According to our consultant's at Addenbrookes and Prof Bush from the RBH, she is on the maximum doses of all of her medications and she is nowhere near under control

Can anyone help me understand how my son is still having asthma probs with sore/tight chest yet less than 1% eoosinophils and eNO of <20? I felt a bit foolish at our last o/p appointment as my son had lung function of 37%, was obviously finding it quite hard to breathe and was having probs putting sentances

Help - I am struggling with this thing called 'Asthma'
Last year November ('09), I had the flu jab at work. A week later I had the flu which lasted about 7 weeks after 3 courses of antibiotics. January '10 I returned back to the gym, but was always out of breath with this funny crackling sound on my chest. I went back to the Dr in February '10. He diagnosed

Doctors can get it right sometimes
Just had to post. Came home from long weekend away with start of sniffly nose and sneezes loud enough to wake the dead. As didn't feel aches or like could really do with taking to my bed, assumed it would all go away in day or so. You guessed, it didn't. Instead of sneezing, I coughed like it was an

Infection still
Hi This is my first ever post, and was just wondering if anyone else had symptoms like myself, regarding my recent infection. I always have Symbicort 400/12 two puffs twice a day, and use the Smart approach, although being on this treatment, i never ever feel 100% but much better than in the past.

Azithromycin
I have been on this for 9 months as a prophylaxis against infection cause of still being stuck on pred. In that time I have not had any colds - always my big trigger. I believe from reading about it that it has an anti-inflammatory effect as well as being an antibiotic. I thought that Deek might like

bronchial thermoplasty and LABAs
Also, I have the same questions about
azythromycin
, another new treatment started today for me to add to everything else. I know it can effect my theophylline levels which are not well controlled at the best of times. Any responses would be happily taken on board, Thanks, J.
