Ablation Experiences
I have had PAF for 7 years and am now 65. Otherwise healthy with normal blood pressure, heart structurally sound and a low heart beat. I am on apaxiban 5mgx2 a day. I was on Flecainide as a pill in the pocket which shortened the attacks but my EP says it has changed the T waves on my ecg. So I can’t

Ectopic Beats Developing?
Sorry if I’m reposting - never used forums before and it’s almost as confusing as the ectopics!! I recently had an echo after having 1-2000 ectopic beats on a 24hour ECG. Doctor doesn’t think anything is wrong but I have stages where I feel three beats in a row for HOURS. It’s very unsettling. I don

Flecainide as PIP question
Recently I had a pacemaker implanted. . Prior to that I was unable to tolerate taking flecainide. A couple of weeks ago when I saw my cardio he said that I should try taking it again when I went into a fib. A few days ago I took one at the onset of afib. Six hours later I was finally in sinus rhythm

Anticoagulant Uptake in US
I have noticed that the Anticogulants seem to be much less used in the US for those with AF than in Europe, despite the evidence showing their efficacy of their prophylactic value of preventing AF induced stroke. It seems this is now also troubling EPs in the US, as this article notes[i]:- The data

Kardia
Hi All. Just wondering if the Kardia unit is any benefit if you are in permanent Afib or is it more of value to someone with paroxysmal or intermittent episodes . I am in permanent although only diagnosed 3 weeks ago and I have read how good the Kardia is but not sure if it will only tell me what I

New here - experiencing quadrigeminy, trigeminy and bigeminy
Hi, 49 year old woman here with a history of PVC's my entire adult life. They used to be very intermittent, I'd get an episode or 2 a day lasting a few minutes to an hour for a few months, then nothing for a year, etc. I was told not to worry about it and didn't. Now it's been worsening over 3 years

Diltiazem, thumpy heartbeat and exercise, advice needed please.
Hi, I have been on Diltiazem (90mg SR twice a day) for about 3 weeks after switching from Bisoprolol as it made me very unwell. I'm feeling much better since being on Diltiazem (after a slightly bumpy transition), but I'm finding it hard to do much of anything as my heart seems to be quite poundy on

Help! Back in a fib again
I’ve been stable on 2.5 Bisoprolol twice a day but now back in Afib with heartbeat in 70s and 80s and struggling to sleep at night and tiredness. I am a carer so it’s hard to stay patient when you’re not feeling great and not so young (80). Wondering whether to increase the Bisoprolol until I can speak

Side effects
Has anyone had fever as a side effect of the metoprolol or Eliquis. It is a side effect but not one of the more common ones. Side effects are on drugs.com. Thanks

Crackling Breathing
Good morning. I had cardioversion number 3 on Weds and all good so far. However, I woke early hours of Thursday morning and this morning with crackling and laboured breathing, and had to prop myself up. I'm guessing is down to fluid as I'm fine during the day standing up. I have had this quite some time

Catheter Ablation
So my amazing AF journey continues, today was released from hospital and was told i can have a catheter ablation although the waiting list is a few mths. Start anticoagulants tomorrow. Apparently my meds have basically lasted their course so ablation it is. I suppose excitement and terror are my emotions

My first AFib episode since diagnosis
Well it’s gone from if to when, I suppose I am now fully fletched member of the club. I woke up predawn on Monday with my heart running ahead of me. Calmly followed my GPs advice and took my usual meds and waited, no dice. Phoned my GP and waited for return call and waited. Was told to take another

Cardiology appointment
I had a very thorough NHS appointment with consultant (45 minutes), following an ECG and health check (much more useful than the brief private consultation in June), he explained everything about AF and my situation. His main message - the new cluster of episodes (4 since June, following a four year
