Cardiomyopathy- looking for some advice.
Hi, I’m looking for a bit of advice as I’ve recently developed some new symptoms. I’m 24 and I have cardiomyopathy (as well as a neuromuscular condition) I have been on 50mg of atenolol once a day for 8 years and typically have no issues. I last saw my cardiologist 12 months ago who was so happy with

PERSISTENT COUGH
Hello Everyone.. I am new here and would appreciate your comments. I stopped smoking in May 2004. Since early 2005, I developed the most irritating cough which comes & goes very often. I am under a Consultant and he wants to send me to the "cough hospital" as, like my GP, he is totally baffled. I

I'd love to hear success stories about taking Buspirone for anxiety
I have had different degrees of anxiety my whole life. This has ranged from constant worry to full blown panic attacks for days on end. I was prescribed Celexa some years ago and didn't do well on it. I've tried to live my life the best I could while dealing with this disorder. Recently I had a major

Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (PoTS) in 68 year old woman?
I have had L*** C**** for over 18 months including loss of smell and breathlessness, plus raised BP and now what appears to be PoTS on standing up, with HR over 125 (DIY diagnosis at HR rises 30 points on standing). I have had clear lung X-rays, an echocardiogram which was good, and phone appointment

Atenolol and Ramilpril - Acid reflux
I started Antenolol 25mg 2 weeks ago and was advised to take it in the morning and to alter taking Ramipril 5mg from in the morning which I have done for years, to taking it in the evening. But the acid reflux I suffer from and take esomeprazole for has suddenly flared up since the above. My reflux

Beta Blocker (Bisoprolol or Propanolol) for long-term management of high-BP?
I have consistently high-BP, which I've had for many years. The problem I have is with the Systolic (which consistently comes in the 140s or 150s range, which is considered too high nowadays). My Diastolic has always been fine. I currently take a Calcium-channel blocker (Verapamil), a Angiotensin-receptor

Blood test question
I need to book next blood tests. I’ve always had my bloods done first thing, no food or hot drinks, no thyroid meds until after test etc. I’m not sure whether I need to do this any more. I’ve been on T3/T4 combo since November 2020. I have raised cholesterol, average results around 7, was 8 and has been

Coming off Flecainide (for PVC's) and possible Ablation for Teenager
Hi! I would really appreciate if you would please read my bio for the back story to this question as it has a history, but I will give a brief overview below. My daughter (14) is going to be weaned off Flecainide soon to see if her heart has 'fixed' itself after suddenly starting to misbehave in April

Can anyone give me some info please?
I have been waiting for a heart monitor since February, and when I enquired about it, apparently the GP had forgotten to ask about it. I now have an appointment to get one on 22nd August. I was feeling that I was going to faint, so she cut my atenolol from 50mg to 25 mg, which has helped, but heart still

Lightheadedness With AF

New med (again)
Blood test results show very little to be concerned about except very high uric acid levels! GP and myself both put this down to being on bendroflumethiazide. So now I have been prescribed nebivolol (some may recall my issues with bisoprolol) . I am happy with this. I feel I have a plan in place now

Beta Blockers and Vagal Afib
So in a small comment on a blog a year or two ago I saw a doctor state that beta blockers can actually irritate vagal afib. As I was coming up to my colonoscopy last week, I started taking 1 atenolol in the morning again just as a safety thing because I was worried all the digestive uproar would cause

changing med for Afib
I was having a lot of lightheadedness and dizziness so my doctor Put me on only one atenolol pill and left me on 2 Flecainide and also took me off of my blood pressure pill. This Seem to be a change as I have been on a blood pressure pill for many many years. I will let you know how it turns out.

Blood Pressure tablets.
Can anyone help in regard to blood pressure tablets that do not have much in the way of side-effects. Currently I am taking Bendroflumethiazide 2.5mg which are fine. Because my blood pressure is now slightly raised I need to take a different tablet. I have tried Amlodipine and Rampril 2.5 mg - both

Switch from Diltiazem to Atenolol for SVT
Hi I have been on 90mg slow release Diltiazem twice a day for SVT, after being unable to tolerate 5mg Bisoprolol. Still not seeing much improvement. Cardiologist has written to gp saying I can either increase Diltiazem to 120mg twice daily, or switch to Antenolol. He feels that beta blockers are a better
