Unresolved thyroid issue?
I asked the doctor to never mention
antidepressants
again. They did try and send me to an endo but because bloods were ‘normal’ the appointment was refused. I waited patiently for this but surgery did not tell me. The issue of antibodies does not concern doctors and this scares me.

Hi Ashy83, As a fellow migraine sufferer myself and a medic I can tell you that Amitriptyline is actually a antidepressant first and for most but is used for a number of other conditions, in low doses it is a valuble drug for helping to control pain levels in conjunction with other medications and in

Photos of my weekend on the river.Wild swimming, a bit like antidepressants, you have to go through the pain before you get the benefits.
It has just struck me that there is a parallel for some people with getting used to taking
antidepressants
. You have to stay with the hard part of getting used to them when you first start to take them before you gain from them in the long run. Kim

Three cheers for Dr Max the ‘mind doctor‘.
But the
antidepressants
prescribed by GPs have failed to make them better, hence why they have been referred to a mental health specialist. In cases like these, we always do a blood test, which often reveals what is really wrong: an underactive thyroid, also known as hypothyroidism.

Depression lingers.
I'm so sensitive and I also cant take
antidepressants
because I have horrible side effects from them. I want to have hope that this will get better, but sometimes I read posts on this site and get discouraged. I dont mean that negatively, but it can get me down. I'm struggling I guess. Bad.

Just Me.
Having said that I have just visited a mental health team nurse at my local surgery with a view to me reducing my very high dose of
antidepressants

Scared and feeling out of control
I’ve been put on
antidepressants
to help me cope which I have only been on for one day but I’m terrified that I’m going to end up losing my partner one way or another. We’ve been together for nearly 9 years with a 3 week break at 5.

Adverse life events, depression, venlafaxine (once loved but now hated) and cranial electrotherapy
I've also realised, that I've accepted being on
antidepressants
for a v long time (15 years). And I'm beginning to think that long-term use is potentially very harmful. It looks as if most studies extolling use of
antidepressants
are not long-term so they won't detect adverse long-term effects.

Hello
I was on
antidepressants
from 2000-2013 and have been going it without since. My life is pretty stable and I keep the anxiety and depression when it creeps in pretty quiet. Life is hard when you go it alone this way.

Skipping a dose makes me feel better. Why?!
I know when taking
antidepressants
they say you should not skip a dose but I don’t know why but I feel like about once a week my antidepressant causes more depression so I skip a dose and I feel better. Does anyone know an explanation for this ? It doesn’t make logical sense to me! Thanks Jaco

New here
Anyone with ADHD get really nervous & really unsure about applying for a new job? I currently take care of people's pets but I need more work and I need a new challenge. I'm debating whether or not to apply to be a swimming instructor at a gym for kids. I like swimming, kids and the location is not far

Antidepressants - getting the balance right
My son (aged 23) has been on
antidepressants
for about a year (his tbi happened 18 months ago). His GP is wonderful but has struggled to find
antidepressants
that do their job without huge side effects.
