When will the medical system wake up
It's 4 am here in Florida. I can't sleep. Back to taking the Eliquis since being in the hospital has put me back to square one. As I couldn't follow my personal protocol I had at home taking my supplements and whatnot. I had the tests and blood work and you know what. I was expecting them to be negative

Turmeric!
So over the last couple of months I’ve made it a point to have a fruit smoothie every morning. It’s always: blueberries, strawberries, and an apple. Recently I tried adding a turmeric blend. As an Indian American, I’ve always known about the health benefits behind turmeric but after being diagnosed

Rivaroxaban a nd flu jab
My annual flu jab comes tomorrow but my wife beat me by a day for hers. Before injection, she was asked if she took any blood thinners and replied no. Got me wondering, as I take a daily dose (10mg) of Rivaroxaban. Might that mean I am excused the jab when I turn up? Would be mightily upset if that

Catheter Ablation
Start
anticoagulants
tomorrow. Apparently my meds have basically lasted their course so ablation it is. I suppose excitement and terror are my emotions at this moment in time.

Out of the hospital
Out of the hospital having gone in this last Sunday for heart pain. Blood tests galore and an angiogram this morning. Off the Eliquis Monday and Tuesday so I stayed in the hospital. Tests all negative. Released around noon today. A couple times I forgot to take a dose of the Eliquis at home and felt

Rivaroxaban blood test
I’ve just had a phone call from my GP calling me in for a blood test next week. I have blood tests every six months and am up to date. They said it was to monitor the Rivaroxaban levels. This seems unusual but I seem to remember reading somewhere that GPs were trying to get patients off of Rivaroxaban

IBS or Liver?
I’m sorry for posting so many questions. I know I do have some health anxiety with all this and it gets the better of me a lot but trying to see if anyone has experience with these symptoms. I have been diagnosed with IBS C for about 6 years now and when it was bad I’d get feelings of some sharp pains

Possibly just clutching at straws, my GP diagnosed me with AF after I presented with mild breathlessness last December, he organised an ECG, prescribed Xarelto and referred me to a Cardiologist. By February the breathlessness was getting worse so I asked for a chest X-ray, the x-ray showed fluid on

Endocarditis complications
My dad was admitted to the hospital 23 days ago with what was determined to be infectious endocarditis. He was moved to the ICU just over 24hrs after being admitted because he had two seizures. Just wondering how often do you self test, I have proven several times that if I had just weekly clinic blood tests my inr would be under range I test myself and send result the the anticoagulant clinic with a suggestion of what I thought would be the best dose for me, they didn’t take any notice, so

Bisoprolol Fast AF
I have just been diagnosed with fast AF again (my third time). Before I had cardio version treatment both times and this worked. Now it has come back again, the consultant is now looking to give me a cardio ablation. I was on 5mg of Bisoprolol and this has been increased to 7.5mg. Also been prescribed

Just when I thought....
Just over a year into my uncomfortable journey with Mr GCA. I have managed to throw most of his luggage out of the window and am now down to 4mg of Pred from 60mg. But we had a serious crash two weeks ago today - I had a stroke. Luckily I got to hospital within an hour and got the clot buster injection

I've been AF free for just over 2 months now and had gotten used to feeling well. I had a procedure lined up during this week for a camera examination of my lower bowel after suffering an anal fissure in August. On the day of the test I was asked to stop my anticoagulant and first thing in the morning

Blood thinner and infection
Hi there, Has anyone found being on blood thinners makes having viruses and bacterial infections worse? I usually cope well enough with my lupus colds, flus and stomach upsets. But 6 months ago I was put on thinners for a clot and am not coping so well with my current cold/flu. Would appreciate your

Confused
Hi. My doctor has ordered lupus anticoagulant and antiphospholipid antibody blood tests. I have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. When I asked why I was being tested she said it was to rule out APS. I am really confused as to why she thinks I could have this syndrome. I am in my early 20s, never

Flu jab and blood thinners
My son (35) has just had his flu jab and was asked if he was taking blood thinners - not something I've ever been asked before. A quick search found that problems have occurred previously with patients taking warfarin, but I cannot find any reference to other blood thinners (I'm on clopidogrel) or if
