Is there a dr at Ninewells who deals with APS?
In Dec 2020 I had what was thought to be a TIA. I mentioned to the stroke nurse that I had tested positive before for lupus anticoagulant and my rheumatologist at the time put me on aspirin. I was told to stop HRT in order to do this. It wasn’t checked again. The stroke nurse prescribed Clopidogrel

Could I stop taking Rivaoxaban?
I’ve been on Flecainide, Bisoprolol and Rivaoxaban now for 5 years and have a pacemaker, my heart is in sinus rhythm at 60bpm. I understand that Rivaoxaban is to help prevent blood clots forming, but as my AF is now managed could I stop taking it? I get frequent gum bleeds despite excellent oral hygiene

Patients Day 2023
Firstly big thank to all the team for putting on a great event and Tracy in particular knowing you have a funeral this week as well. I'm told that in due course all sessions will be available on line but I thought a quick over view of some bullet points might be appropriate. Do have a look when they

Acid Reflux
Hi, does anyone suffer with worsening symptoms of acid reflux because of blood thinners? I took Edoxaban which aggravated my stomach and now am trying apixaban. I have a hiatus hernia and was taking Lansoprazole 15mg. I have had to increase it to 30mg which is not helping. The doctor gave me Esomeprazole

stomach ulcer and blood thinners
hello all, has anyone got an ulcer from Edoxoban, I’ve had really bad stomach pains with sweating and the pain radiating to my back, I thought it was a heart attack at first as I know with women it can be felt in those areas, I was nearly sick as well, doctor recons it’s an ulcer from the Edoxoban.

I found it difficult to get off the train and also the large gap made it a bit hazardous in this state. I am not diabetic. I have af and take

Another antigoagulant question
Hello. A year ago I had painless thyroiditis which sent me into Afib and I remained in Afib constantly for 5 months for which I was on bisoprolol and an anticoagulant. I was then put on an anti arrhythmia meds at the time the thyroid cleared up and was soon back in NSR. That was last March. Since then

Consultant update
Hey all I'm feeling pretty happy after my meeting with my consultant. Although my heart is still severely impaired, my EF is now 25%. Taken two years but it's improved from the 10-15% that it was. I also no longer have to take warfarin, I am being changed to one of the new blood thinners. Just got my

Waiting For Ablation
6 weeks ago I had a successful cardioversion but sadly it lasted just 20 days before I went back into AF. Yesterday I had a follow up appointment at the hospital where they said that the results of my echo cardiogram had come back normal but that they felt that the best option for me, based on my age

Stopping blood thinner for surgery
Hi All, In late July I had either a TIA or a migraine, the doctors are divided on what it was. In the course of the scans and tests, they found an aneurysm plus an "area of concern" in my brain. I'm scheduled for surgery on Oct. 25. I'm supposed to add another antiplatelet (in addition to the aspirin

Sticky blood! A thing or not?
Many years ago my blood tests often had to be repeated at the pathology lab because the first and second samples had set solid in transit before testing. I was told it was because I had sticky blood. Last week I saw a cardiologist who initially wanted me to take blood thinners, but as I only scored 1

AV Node Ablation Good News
After having 9 cardio versions (shock treatment) in the past two years and at the age of 77, I decided to go for quality of life and forego all the drugs that I have taken over the past few years. I tried two ablations and a few drug protocols of which none worked. After all of that and the worry of

Herb-Drug Interaction with Acalabrutinib and Boswellia Serrata
Looking for information to see if there is a herb-drug interaction between Acalabrutinib and Boswellia. Boswellia is an herb that is good for joint pain and has anti-inflammatory effects. I have previously read that people on blood thinners should not take the herb. Would this herb affect the efficacy

Well as if the year hasn't been shit enough. I went into AF on Friday night and now on Digoxin and Eliquis blood thinners. This just tops my shitty year off.......I hope these 2 drugs don't make the RLS and nerve damage worse. The universe has really given me a kick in the teeth this year, with spinal
