I am shocked and upset that I have just been put on blood thinners (axiban) for irregular heartbeat after 48 hour ecg monitor. GP said stay on these until I see cardiologist but to be honest, I am scared as I have holidays booked. One in may flying to Greece for 9 days and september a 7 day first cruise

Heart Attack at 38
Hi, I first posted on the thyroid board but was sent here to check with the knowledgeable people here. At the end of January I had a heart attack. The doctors said it was due to taking T3 for my thyroid but I’ve read a lot of conflicting information as to whether T3 would cause this or not and the

High platelets update….opinions please…..
Just a recap on my situation… 52 year old female under the care of a Haematologist for the last 2 years for platelets over 450. My latest platelet count is 486, the lowest it’s been since referral, prior to that 550-600. Negative for the three main genes. Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy all clear. Do have

Good hair day
I'm beginning to think the impact of poorer circulation due to persistent Afib was a factor as much as
anticoagulants
. 2. I'm not washing my hair more than twice a week and only using the dryer on a low heat. 3. I've got a good cylindrical hairbrush that is kind to tangles 4.

Stopping PPI?
Hello everyone, I'm approaching a year post Nstemi with one stent and thus the end of ticagrelor hourray! What I am wondering is if I am then down to aspirin as the only blood thinner (plus ezetimibe and atorvastatin long term but hopefully not much longer on bisoprolol and ramipril ) do I still need

Apixaban side effects?
My cardiologist changed my anticoagulant form Edoxaban to Apixaban a few weeks ago as I was having digestive issues on the former. (He also doubled my Flecainide which is leading to constipation but I guess that’s a different issue 🤦♀️) Anyway - I have started quite suddenly with very painful joints

Diltiazem side effects.
Does anyone know if diltiazem effects the bladder. I have started getting a sore feeling bladder and have been on diltazem for about 4 years and a blood thinner rivaroxaban. It might be time for some alternative if its that. Thanks, Colin

Minimally Invasive AFib surgery in Tokyo with Dr Ohtsuka

How long for platelets to go back up?
Hello Since the start of my husband's cirrhosis journey last August, with a variceal bleed, his platelets went as low as 2700. Since then they rose to 6000 at one point and are now back down to 5000. I thought they would have gone much more by now but he is also on blood thinners because he has portal

Extremely bad acid heartburn
hi, On here about my mum again. She is suffering really bad with acid reflux. She hasn’t had chemo for 4 weeks but they did attempt debulking surgery which didn’t work. So we are not sure if it’s something to do with the blood thinners or she’s worried it is the cancer. has anyone else suffered

Belimumab treatment
Hi I have lurked on this site for years but now after reoccurring pericarditis my treatment for lupus will change. I need advice and have questions I've been in Plaqunail and methotrexate for years and tapering off prendsisone at the moment. The pericarditis comes back when I taper off the steriod

BRIDGING MY BLOOD THINNER FOR COLONOSCOPY
It's time for my colonoscopy but I have reservations because I have been instructed to discontinue my regular blood thinner 5 days before the procedure; and bridge with lovanox. Then I'm supposed to stop the lovanox 2 days prior to the procedure. I have had a colonoscopy before but not since being diagnosed

Raised platelets and Eylea injections question for moderators or anyone with special knowledge
I suffer from a rare type of blood cancer in which my platelets are too high. They have been controlled during the last three years but recently have risen again. During the last six years I have been having Eylea injections for macular degeneration in both eyes (somewhere about 60 injections altogether
