What genetic / genomic information does a BMB give that bloods donāt?
ā¹ļø Its the
anaemia
( which both the ruxolitinib and the MF contribute to) thats related to fatigue snd general grottiness. Some of the newer drugs donāt seem to cause so much
anaemia
. But as the posts here are informing us having the right genetic info is important. Rachelthepotter

Strange iron panel results (part 2!)
I posted several weeks ago about an anomaly in my 18 year old daughter's ferritin results and received some really helpful advice from @humanbean and others. Her ferritin level from a Medichecks blood test was 75, however when her GP tested it a few weeks later it was just 15.4 and her Haemoglobin was

Functional vitB12 deficiency - anyone else?
I was diagnosed with a 'functional vitB12 deficiency' last year (I had high levels of MMA (methylmalonic acid) in my blood, but normal vitB12 levels in my blood as I had been taking max prescribed dose of cyanocobalamin) - which essentially means that although I have vitB12 in my blood, my body can't

Rapid responses to daily subcutaneous B12 injections??
I was diagnosed with pernicious anemia and iron deficiency anemia 3 months ago. (Iāve had 2 iron infusions so those levels are better now.) The B12 injections are extraordinarily helpful. Iāve been getting them subcutaneously on a daily basis. (I canāt tell any difference between subcutaneous and intramuscular

Iron advice for my sister
Though you guys might be the best to ask. What is the best iron supplement going? My sister needed 2 iron infusions before surgery and could only get one due to poor veins. She needs an iron supplement and I said I would get it for her. I want her to have the one that will be most beneficial to her..

Can you take combined pill breaks at any stage?
I take my combined pill (Gedarel 30/150) without breaks, to help with extreme cramping and serious
anaemia
. I take a 5 break when I get breakthrough bleeding. Does this put me at risk of pregnancy? Is there a set 28-day cycle, or is this subjective? Thanks.

Action Plan going forward and are these supplements ok?
Serum B12 was 343 (180-900) In March I am also going to pay for private testing for pernicious
anaemia
and lupus and a full iron panel.

Iron Infusion
After years of RLS, several years of struggling on ropinerole, and the last 2 years on Neupro patches & Topiramate. Yesterday I was given my first Iron Infusion as a treatment option for RLS. Thereās been lots of research by a Dr Earley at Johns Hopkins into an iron deficiency in the brain of RLS sufferers

My doctor disagrees
I believe I have B12
anaemia
deficiency as my blood test came back with an abnormality for low in Folate which is all in the B family. I have ALL the symptoms which Iāve complained about to my doctors over the past few years, all of which have suddenly started together except mouth ulcers.

Gilbertās Syndrome
I have suffered with pernicious
anaemia
for over 40 years and a few years ago after a routine blood test I was told I had Gilbertās syndrome. Nothing to worry about said the doctor, same interests as we get for our B12 deficiency. No symptoms they said but there are many!
