High neutrophil count😱
My wife's last blood test showed her platelets were up at @800 And her neutrophil count at over 70, her Hgb was 116, hematocrit was 0.38 which is high for her, but as it was only three weeks since she had three units of packed red cells and a bag of iron, that was expected. Is Rytary really working better than Carbidopa/Levodopa?
I’ve had PD for at least 5 years but it was only diagnosed 1 year ago. I started on Carbidopa/Levodopa 25/100, 3x a day and then went up to 4x a day. Primary troubling symptom is peripheral neuropathy and toe curling which causes balance issues and painful walking. Secondary symptoms are weakness, lightheadedness

What is life supposed to be anyway?
Only, that wasn't in the plan for my life. 7 years ago I was diagnosed with diabetes, 5 years ago I had a triple bypass, 3years ago I had 4 surgeries on my tight legs, there was talk of
amputation

Hi, I have recently had surgery to remove my toes (metatarsals), I burnt my foot over 3 years ago and it wasn't healing. I kept getting infections, and eventually they had to amputate. 5 weeks after foot surgery
A toe fusion on one foot & a an
amputation
of the toe end on the other foot. It’s not been easy but I’m getting there. The fusion was going to be a tendon release but continuing to a fusion if the release didn’t work.

The man from porlock...........
It wasn't really trivial, he knows a lady in her thirties who has just had an
amputation
and wanted to talk about
amputation
and how I had coped, so I gave him a potted history of my
amputation
story so far, so if my story helps someone it's not time wasted.

Lori, NURSE
I worked in a homeless program where I worked 70-70 hours a week. I was in a BSN program full time. I caught meningitis from the homeless program. I went from a thriving healthy nurse who got the scholarship for school by being an exemplary Nurse. At first I thought it was a bad flu with light sensitivity

So depressed
Hospital won't operate due to the state of my spleen etcsaying I could get sepsis or
amputation
. Twice been prepped for surgery. Twice they called off last minute. Have a consultant who I have see twice in 3 years. Compensated at the moment I think who knows. Fed up. Depressed.

pain after surgery
Last week I finally had surgery to remove my toes on my left foot where the wound was trans metatarsal
amputation
. Before I had the surgery they were treating me for gout, they found the urea levels were quite high. I also had a toe removed on my right foot because it was very problematic.

Week 4 Run 1 really chuffed.
Run 1 of week 4, first 5 minutes of jogging since before
amputation
, Stu the stump was felling it at the end of this, I had to take the weight off him at the end, so a 5 minute sit on a park bench was just the thing at the very end. Very happy with it.

new surgery just doesn’t understand.
I have spinal cord injuries, a below knee
amputation
and osteoporosis and kyphosis. This new surgery freaked out about the amount of MST I was on so I halved it.

CONFUSION
Hi everyone I was dx with SLE in 2001 which came as a complete shock. My 1st visit to my rheumy was shortly afterwards, but sadly there were two specialists arguing about the possibilities of me having APLS and not SLE. GREAT HELP!! This disagreement has carried on through the years with every few months

Phantom Pain
I have suffered phantom pain since my
amputation
over two years ago. Some consultants think it is worse because I suffered severe pain for months beforehand as treatment was delayed because of you know what. It was improving but worsened after my revision.

Phantom Restless Leg
I've always wondered if RLS symptoms would change after an
amputation
? Let's be honest. (In no way making light of the situation.) At some point or another during an awful bout of RLS I'm sure many of us have ignorantly cursed out. "Just get rid of these damn things."

My Mystery DNR
This didn't work and I had a BKA (below knee
amputation
) at the end of the month. At that time the DNR should no longer have been in place. I have confirmation it is not in place at that hospital.

Terrified where to turn
I was told that if the wound won't heal I could risk
amputation
. I was told that if I opt for a spinal block I could bleed into it and become paralysed. I was also told that I risk a major bleed and possible death. I am confused, stunned and don't know where to turn.

27 years off dialysis
In 1995 almost died from meningococcal sepsis. Was hospitalised over 6 months requiring wound care, debridement, skin grafts, amputations of fingers and toes. The resulting kidney damage classified as meningococcal Waterhouse Fridericksen syndrome. The treatment was dialysis to remove the bacteria
