Vitamin D
Good afternoon, I have been asked by my gp to take an over the counter B vitamin supplement that contains at least 400mcg of folic acid. I managed to buy Thorne Basic B complex with folate but I am finding the tablets difficult to swallow because of their size. Can anyone recommend another brand of vitamin

Armour or Levo?
curious to know the different thyroid meds that are available, currently taking levo but to be honest I have never felt great on it despite trying different doses and supplementing with selenium/vitamin b etc. what’s the difference between levo and armour for example? Can you get it in the UK? Any info

‘Supplementing’ supplements with whole-foods.
Before Parkinson’s symptoms came into my husband’s life, we generally tried to get all our nutrients from the food we ate (and had to supplement B12, D, and omega 3 because of a plant-based diet). Since following sites like this, we have added more B vitamins (B complex, B1, more B12), and magnesium

Armour versus Levo
Hi, I have recently gone through a stressful period and my FT3 has dropped from 5.6 to 3.5. (TSH is 0.06 and Free Thyroxine is 11.8). I have hashis as Thyroglobulin antibodies are 258 and TPO 303. I am on the AIP diet, all testing is done before 9am, fasting, no vitamin b or biotin containing supplements

Breakdown of the B vitamins and what their functions are.
Hello everyone, I find myself confused about all the different functions of the b vitamins and what each one does. I found this page that I thought had some really good information on it. Hope it helps. https://lcca.com/blog/The-ABCs-of-vitamins-Vitamin-B

Stage 4 Cirrhosis can be compensated?
My husband was diagnosed with Cirrhosis via liver biopsy. He is 65 years old. The liver specialist says the biopsy indicates Stage 4 cirrhosis. His fibrosis was also stage 4. But liver specialist also says his liver is compensated? How can this be? He has been prescribed lactulose, spirolactone

Fortified foods and blood tests
Is it necessary to avoid foods fortified with B vitamins a week before blood tests. I know supplements containing biotin must be avoided but am not sure if the same applies to fortified foods eg cereals? Thank you

Feeling exhausted.
Hi everyone. I had a complete thyroidectomy in 1990 . It went haywire when I was pregnant and until 2015 I was fit and healthy on 175mg thyroxine daily. Then it became irratic and I’ve struggled since with several changes to my thyroxine. I’ve just had the dose lowered again from 125mg daily, to 100mg

Only temporary respite from IV iron?
Back again - thought I was done with RLS after my iron infusion but seems like the respite was only temporary. Presently having symptoms from dawn until dusk, though some days are worse than others. Iron IV was 6 weeks ago; have just had bloods drawn for an iron panel so will see my neurologist when

Low TSH
hello, I’m wondering if some of you knowledgeable people can give me some advice please. I feel under medicated on 75 mcg of levothyroxine, but the doctor insisted that I needed a blood test, even though they agreed my symptoms sounded like I needed an increase in meds. I’ve called the surgery and surprise

Thyroid or Pituitary Problem?
Sorry in advance for the long essay! Desperatly hoping for some advice. I am a 30-year-old female suffering fatigue, brain fog & migraine with visual disturbances since July 2020, therefore I stopped the COCP after a 10-year use (which was prescribed for the management of menorrhagia). Since stopping

Doctor put my b12 schedule on my records.
this week after a visit to the ED and changed symptoms related to my spine degenerative disease, I saw a different doctor at the practice, as she was going through my history, she asked about my B12 and It’s diagnosis, including the hospital discharge saying I did it EOD. I explained I had been diagnosed

Hi all, I take a multi vitamin which includes b vitamins and methylfolate etc - I am going for bloods tomorrow for Thyroid and Folate - I know I have read on her previously about stopping vitamins (containing B2?) up to a week before repeat bloods, I haven't taken mine in a good 5 days, I just wondered

is active b12 a better indicator than free b12
hi all my recent total b12 test came in at 468 (range 179-2000) so just 17% through range. I take sublingual b12 drops daily, a vitamin b complex tablet and I had a b12 shot a few weeks ago and so wasn’t expecting it to drop. I got my active b12 test back today and it says 116 (range 37.5-150) so
