Advice Needed, Abiraterone Failing?
I started
Abiraterone
in November 2022 and my recent monthly PSA readings have been 5.65, 5.37, 6.11, 5.67, 5.66, 5.64, 6.41, 6.96, and 8.20ng/ml while taking
Abiraterone
. My consultant informs me my PC is very aggressive and hard to deal with. He also told me he sees my type in about 1 in 100 men.

PSA suppression
Incidentally, that phrase - rapid androgen cycling - brings to mind the work of Howard Scher [3] (2006) When
Abiraterone
and Enzalutamide were approved, I was briefly tempted. But however efficient they were at controlling PSA, the effects were transient for most men.

Abiraterone and heart failure
husband has had to go on
Abiraterone
earlier than we thought as the 6 sessions of chemo failed to do anything for his bone mets. We’re aware that med leaflets have to list every possible side effect but the Abi leaflet says 1 out of 10 people will get heart failure when taking it!!!

Rechallenging with a previously failed treatment?
Now there are treatments/trials combining Olaparib with another med like
Abiraterone
, which I had also previously failed as a mono therapy. Could a combo now possibly benefit me??? The answer may simply be that you won't know until you try.

Silly Questions??
2) Why do some advanced prostate cancer patients have NO Chemo, and go directly to ADT +
Abiraterone
+Prednisone, while others begin treatment with chemo and radiation? What are the deciding criteria ??

Any adverse effect if taking three-month Lupron shot two weeks late?
Hi friends, my father has been on Lupron shots every three months with
Abiraterone
pills for about a year now. His next shot will be 14 weeks due to some insurance problems. What is the ideal and acceptable time range between shots that won’t risks benefits of treatment?

Apalutamide vs Abiraterone for Deep PSA Response in MHSPC patients
While the number of patients were not exactly even in each group, the study indicates that apalutamide has a greater initial decrease in PSA than
abiraterone
.

Need help to fight fatigue from Radium 223
Had 6 cycles of Chemo and then
Abiraterone
for 18+ months until it stopped being effective. Currently part of trial with Radium 223. Had 4 cycles already and 2 more to go. After this will likely have to switch to Enzalutamide and ADT.

8/4/23 Update questions for MO
Switching from prednisone to dexamethasone before you give up on
abiraterone
3. Choose from and possibly combine: Taxotere, Xtandi, Xofigo, and Provenge. 4. Switch to xtandi or Casodex 5. Try docetaxel, which works by directly killing cancer cells, but can have substantial side effects, 6.

Radiation after triple therapy?
Finished triple therapy (6 cycles 85% docetaxel + 250mg
Abiraterone
with yogurt + 10mg Prednisone w/yogurt + Lupron (3 month) + XGeve monthly. After 3rd cycle, a CT scan identified a new 3rd bone lesion (L1). Original bone scan identified lesion on Pelvis and C4.

Examining Prostate Cancer Survival Outcomes by Patient Age and Treatment Type in Patients with mHSPC
“the research suggests a differential impact between androgen receptor antagonists (like enzalutamide, apalutamide, and darolutamide) and androgen synthesis inhibitors (such as
abiraterone
), with antagonists showing a more pronounced benefit” https://www.urotoday.com/video-lectures/asco-gu-2024/video

Severe cramps and ADT
Just wonder if anyone else found this connection between

Sudden Bone pain
I am on
Abiraterone
and prednisolone, plus hydoxicarbamide and clopidogrel for the ET. PSA is <0.01. I have and still get hot flushes, but recently I get pain in my bones starting normally in calves and and forearms and then spreading to chest and rest of body.

Never get tired of annoucing I am STILL undetectable
I have had somewhat mor energy since we scaled back my
Abiraterone
dosage to 500 mg a day instead of 1,000 mg. Dr Tanya Dorff says stay the course, no additional combination drugs or trials for me. She says I am doing remarkably well.

Minimum PSA for GA-68 PSMA Scan
I have been on Eligard and
abiraterone
for five years and my PSA has always been <.05 ng/ml and my last test came back .05 ng/ml with all PSA tests performed at the same lab. My new oncologist wants me to have a GA-68 PSMA scan which seems premature on two levels.

Supplements and self-care
I then added
abiraterone
and prednisone which has brought my PSA down to 1.4 in July and my last test this month it went up to 2.0 but I have read there can be a margin of error in the PSA test so I’m not too worried.
