Iodine (Trust Me I’m a Doctor)
A recent Episode of ‘Trust Me I’m a Doctor’ revealed that Iodine is something many folk are deficient in. It mention some of the consequences of deficiency but, to my recollection, did not touch on Iodine’s importance to the immune system. (A significant area of interest for Asthmatics). Major dietary

Non-cyclical Breast Pain/ Mastalgia & Hypothyroidism: supplementing with Iodine, Progesterone, etc.
I’ve had a search through this forum and found a few posts regarding links between breast and thyroid issues. I take 75mcg T3 and 75mcg T4. You may remember my last blood tests (posted here late last year) which made my GP cross, as they showed I’d gone and self-medicated with T3 - despite him saying

Iodine
Just caught up with Trust me I’m a Doctor. (BBC). Interesting that we get Iodine (important for thyroid function) from milk, white fish and seaweed, yet the iodine from seaweed is absorbed much less. This means that those of us on a restricted dairy diet and don’t each much fish, are going to struggle

Can’t tolerate thyroid medications/hormone treatment
Hi. I’ve been hypothyroid for about 4 years. Over time I’ve developed a reaction to every thyroid medication there is. They give me various neuropathic or nerve side effects around my face and head. I developed the side effects slowly over time, and they’re becoming more and more pronounced to the point

How dangerous is this. Doctor suddenly told me to stop taking my high dose thyroid replacement after 30+ years.
Hello. I had graves disease 30 years ago. Was treated with radio active iodine. Was on thyroid replacement within a couple of month. Have been on 150 - 200 dose ever since and life has been good. With the exception of taking a pill everyday, I am normal. I loved last year to another area in Canada.

Blood results advice please
Hi I have been on Levothyroxine for many years after having radioactive iodine treatment. My current dose is 125mg per day. I have just got results of latest blood test which I requested as I’ve been feeling so exhausted plus other symptoms (dry skin, trouble sleeping, muscle pain, bad nails, etc)

Feedback from first endo visit and a plea for help
Hi all, went for my first endo visit couple of weeks ago. Showed him my six hundred pound private bloods. He only wanted to look at thyroid panel not vit panel. Then just drew me a little picture like I was a six year old at primary school. Slipped in very quietl that only levothyroxine is treatment

Need some advice. Increase to 100mcg?High cholesterol and folate.
Hello everybody. I'm a newbie to the community. I was diagnosed with Grave's disease in 12/2016 and took Thiamazole since then. In early 2017, thiamazole didn't work well with me anymore and my hyperthyroidism was out of control. I then had radioactive iodine therapy in 9/2017 and started to take L-thyroxine

I’m confused about whether iodine is helpful or harmful for hypothyroidism. Can anyone clarify this for me?

Unordinary hypothyroidism
Hi, I am new here. I am always looking for information on hypothyroidism. In 1996 I had an unusual event happen, I was diagnosed hyperthyroidism and Dr sent me to another Dr for 2nd opinion, then they sent me to have a radio active iodine treatment to lower my thyroid but it killed my thyroid off. Three

Endo says if I have RAI or thyroidectomy the antibodies will probably attack the eyes. Eye hospital says it's not a foregone conclusion that this will happen sounds to me that it's all a bit hit and miss. Think I will try and stay on Carbimazole as long as possible.
