I have posted before regarding Scleroderma and Raynauds and the problems which relate to this. I have osteoarthritis in my knees and they are so very painful. I was coping with the help of steroid injections, paracetamol and Ibuprofen however steroid injections are now limited with less relief and it lasting less than a month. ( I pay privately as my steroid injection experience at my GPs left me never wanting to return) I am now on blood thinners so Ibuprofen is now not advised due risk of bleeding. But I do admit that if I am going to Keep Fit or on a trip I do take a couple other wise I would not be able to enjoy these activities (and being 80 plus I need my activities). I am considering a knee replacement but I have been told that I could get rejected at pre op with the various underlying health conditions due Scleroderma. Any advice welcome for pain relief or managing the actual knees. I need to keep going as my daughter was widowed a year ago and she currently needs her Mum’s support. Any ideas appreciated. Thank you for reading this.

Try Flexiseq, if it’s OK with your other drugs (a pharmacist will tell you). It’s not on prescription, you have to but it yourself. But you only need a little bit each time! Also, why not post on the arthritis site, or go to Versus Arthritis charity for help. I’m sure a lot of us here also have arthritis (I have it in hands, wrists & feet), but trying there may get help. I appreciate your sad position re your daughter, but sadly, she needs to be able to cope without you, too, and it’s important for you to get help, too!!
I had a knee replacement last year having had the other knee done 20 years before and at 76 have made a full recovery. I walk my dog every day, swim once a week and play lawn bowls occasionally too. I was diagnosed with systemic sclerosis/scleroderma and Raynaud’s eight years ago. I’m now on the waiting list for a shoulder replacement.
